marko 30
if terriers are broke to ferrets then when you get the odd invite out for a days ratting you dont end up looking very silly and never invited out again it doesnt matter what you are going to work the dog to,it just needs to be broke to them it may be a bit harder now though. leegreen 2,150
I suppose you who think that its just par for the course for your terrier to kill your ferrets wouldn't mind if they (the terriers) killed someone else's pet either? Just because a terrier kills a ferret doesn't make it hard or brave or clever, though by the sounds of it you think it does: saddos the both of you who haven't bothered to break your dogs to the very animals you keep alongside them. Too right! Quote Link to post

Too right! I remember a day out with a couple of mates one who is called tank built like a brick shit house and about 19 stone,he treated the ferrets like his terriers and lurchers a true terrier and lurcherman,we dug to foxes rats and rabbits with his cracking terriers, they would never look at his ferrets, because he always introduce them from pups and kits, anyway one day we were at a farm infested with rats and the farmer come along with a sheepdog, asked if his dog could catch a few when they were bolting, reconed it had killed a few before,Tank says to him what is the dog like with ferrets, bulletproof says the farmer, puts the ferrets in rats bolting terriers and lurchers killing sheepdog did not move until the first ferret showed, grabbed the ferret Tank picked the dog up took the ferret out of his mouth ,put the dog down gently, and then proceeded to loose us 500 acres of prime hunting. Funky_monks 0
Its about knowing your dog, surely? I have one dog who I know I could break to ferrets, cats etc, and I know the other wont. He had two cockerels last week. Quote Link to post
