Rez 4,957
Nostalgia mate. Nostalgia. To be honest an air pistol got me into "hunting" I had an old BSA 240 Magnum, and it would easily drop rabbits at 15 yards. Wish I'd never of sold it years ago, worth a small fortune now. 2 Quote Link to post

secretagentmole 1,701
Simply because they cannot have the real pistol anymore. Guns like a Tanfoglio 1911 are apparently pretty close when it comes to firing... I have a Smith and Wesson air pistol, it is fun, nothing more to it than that. Sometimes you like to have things that are just fun to have and shoot. 2 Quote Link to post
jonnie bravo 572
Some of the lads at the range have .357's, but they are huge, the barrels have to be long for legal reasons and they have an arm rest too. I think you can get .22rf pistols that actually look like a pistol. There's a few pistol target shooters about too, have a look at the AA pistol and the brocock ones, they look immense. treecreeper 1,136
Iv got a target pistol. Some stuffs useful for short range and humane dispatch but I think the vast majority of people just use them for plinking. Quote Link to post
ratbuster 807
Nostalgia ........ This is how it all started : I still have them, along with a couple of Webley pistols and a couple more; BSA, Sheridan etc. Useful? not much, just plain shooting fun, killing them tin cans 3 Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
First gun I ever had was the F Series Webley Premier 22 Calibre, still have an old chinese 177 for can crunching at BBQ's, handy for getting kids into shooting when they are a bit small to hold a rifle, other than that, unless you spend a large wad on some thing made for target shooting, then pistols are a waste of money, aimed more at your local stick up artist maybe, a dirty harry in 177. walshie 2,804
I can remember having gunfights as kids up the park with our gat guns. Got the odd welt off them. Thinking back, it's very lucky we've all still got 2 eyes. Quote Link to post
mark williams 7,550
Started with a Milbro at age 11. Later on i shot a BSA Scorpion .22 cal and put many a pot filler in the kitchen with that 1 Quote Link to post

charlie caller 3,654
I shot my first rabbit aged 13 with a Crosman .22 pump up pistol, it would kill cleanly out to 15-20 yards or so, I also had a .177 BSA scorpion pistol, that I dropped quite a few bunnies, squirrels, pigeons with, if I can find a mint Webley senior at some point in the future, I will have it, lovely pistols, even the smell brings back happy memories 1 Quote Link to post
