terryd 8,469
Well after our very enjoyable ferreting this morning I decided to take him for walk in the sun and have a relaxing wander no training or working. But as all ways this fella is never off duty and he marked a rabbit in the cover Thick old stingers but he started to edge in and I was just about to sacrifice me self and go in for him when the rabbit made the silly mistake of making a break for it and heading for the far hedge. They both went full blast over the maze stubble which had me cringing because the same field did his leg in last year. But nearly 12 months on his joints can take it now and he was at full speed. Amazing to see and even more so when they got the other side and disappeared into the cover. The dog came trotting back out and at that distance I could just about make out his prize in the chops. He came back about 10 yards lol and plonked it on the floor but to be honest I didn't care. We can work on that and we both were buzzing. He was zooming around the house like a nutter when we got back so he must been feeling good I don't like him running on that stuff and didn't expect to see any thing but as all ways you never know He had a day time one last weekend but he was assisted by the ferret but this was all him 12 Quote Link to post

terryd 8,469
Good do that mate but not a proper Lurcher as it don't retriev live to hand lol he will one day mind the fact he came towards me is progress. Baby steps lol. But watching him blast full steam across the foot high stubble and nail the rabbit in rutted brambly marsh bit did me for now I can see why coursing was so popular now watching a dog full stride in day time most impressive Edited November 2, 2015 by terryd Quote Link to post
