I agree mate all night all season has to be 

what I was getting at is the part we’re a whippet one of the gamest running dogs 

running rabbit and dry land isn’t really testing your not going to see it up to elbows close to minus wet threw 

an hare dog is game because it will carryon upto elbows wet threw even if it takes 7 minutes or more some will pull the game ones don’t 

if I went out with a whippet I couldn’t really run hare fox or deer seen a few half descent but all packed away crimbo

people define game in different ways. I call it driven. a game little rabbit dog, one with plenty of drive will work nettles, brambles, gorse, etc. when right on it's rabbit heading for cover it won't apply the brakes yards from the hedge. it hits cover to make a catch.

Yeah good uns of whatever type have be game 2 be goodun s there's always this thing ,,just a rabbit dog ,, a decent ferriter lamper of rabbits risks tekkin it's head off on wire tin various shite knocking about and will have a lot of runs not 7 mins but added up a great deal more

I've owned and ran ped and non-ped whippets and have a soft spot for them.

But, and this is just MY opinion, non-peds usually aren't over matched by hare or roe, but peds are.

Of course, there will be exceptions, but I've never seen a ped whippet take hare regularly. 

It's horses for courses, or hounds for grounds, I wouldn't bring in a ped whippet if hare coursing was my game, just as I wouldn't bring in a pure Saluki if ferreting or lamping rabbits was my game.

If you want a dog for mooching around, ferreting or lamping, then a ped whippet will be fine, but if you also want to do the odd hare, fox, or the bigger deer, there's far better dogs suited to that work.

As I said, just MY opinion, others will undoubtedly disagree.

I’ve been told think before you open your mouth more than once lol 

as a hunter a whippet isn’t up to scratch unless your  rabbiting then it ok for certain land

I've had to drag them off pigs and big roos that they don't normally look at that but have felt was a threat out bush. Also on  jumping straight in when the bulldogs have a punch up on occasion.

Tbh mine pretend not to see feral cats, lol but they were raised around farm cats. I've seen a bullterrier/ cattle dog lose a fight to a big black feral cat, put it's teeth through the dogs skull, so they are not to be taken lightly.
