devon flighter 421 Posted October 30, 2015 Report Share Posted October 30, 2015 i fancy a catty just as a carry whilst out walking the dogs !! but wow aint things moved on over the last 45 years , over the top, through tf ,pickle forks,single bands,double band,triple bands, tubes GEEZE where do i start ? i have a 10mm ball mould and enough lead to see an army out. Kind of fancy a laminate sort i think but easily persuaded lol, whilst i decide what type to try and build but whats a good start ? wheres the best place to buy one from at a reasonable price to get me going quickly ? Then I could give it a try :-) Atb I've just changed one of mine to the tab style you need to get out into the woods find a nice Y shaped fork ash saplings and ash are the best chance of finding a decent one to be honest sand it down and give it a Finnish or just leave It sanded and then attach leather tabs onto the end of forks then buy your elastic to fit onto the catty and you are away Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Why let it season and tbh mate I'm not sure of the reason of the gypsy tabs dunno !!!! just i always seasoned net stakes but thinking about it if it was oiled i suppose it would limit any cracking ! and the gypsy bands DO LOOK traditional and i do traditional ! ok next question if i used TUBES what should i start with for 10mm lead ? and any suggestions on size of pouch ? 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
