micky 3,325
i sold some imbra traps to a chap this morning and whilst he was settling up his mate was having a little play with them , he had told me that a few years back he been setting a fenn in a rabbit hole and it had fired and caught his hand breaking his thumb, well this morning he caught the same thumb in a imbra , he was hopping about effing and hollering and it took him ten miutes to calm down then a further five for his mate to get it off. After they left, me and my Mrs agreed that although his thumb was looking swollen and bloody that there was nothing broken , we then sat down with a cup of tea and pissed ourselves laughing for a good half hour . 13 Quote Link to post

ratbuster 807
I really have the deepest respect for any trap, even a small nipper hurts like hell, when caught on you little cold finger 1 Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
Had both my thumbs pinned in a mk 6 fenn once, served me right for trying to set one without the thumb ring on it! That was hard to remove on my own checking a trap line! Never again! Quote Link to post
Bunny Digger 21
I carry a small hardwood wedge just in case it happens to me as i work alone you can push it between the jaws to get your fingers out Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
And the moral of the story is never go trapping with you lot because ye'll just be praying for an accident. 1 Quote Link to post
EDDIE B 3,166
A seasoned trapper i know, once caught both thumbs in a fenn whilst trapping on a remote river bank! He could neither free himself, nor drive his van! So he had to cross a couple of fields to a farmers dwelling, and knock on the door with his boot! Lucky enough the farmer was home! 4 Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Did similar with a new 110 firmly attached to my right hand. Had to knock on the farmers door and get the old boy to free me The gun Ho attitude soon disappeared and a good level of respect was established. Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
Once upon a time, long ago,...a well known trapper,.. was chatting to me on the phone,.... We were discussing the merits of a double spring ConyBear, over the single spring model.. Suddenly,..the phone went dead,...the conversation came to an abrupt halt ? All I could hear was an animal -like moaning,...the kind of sad mewing noise, that a lost whale might utter, in an effort to locate its family group... Then,. calmly and with an admirable piece of self control,..my pal whispered,.."Phil,..the fecker has gone off on my hand,.. I am going to have to call next door to help get the b*****d off ,...I'll phone ya later"..... Well, history relates that the guy did indeed get the trap off his hand, and survived to set many a canny fox wire,..and he definitly learn't the salient lesson,..to never,.. ever, juggle with a loaded 120 BodyGripper Edited November 2, 2015 by Phil Lloyd 5 Quote Link to post
