Log Burner

Recommended Posts

when they fitted my log/multi fuel burner, they said i had to have the cowling/ cap on the top.. And you MUST get a carbon monoxide alarm. They told me they can be worse than gas if you get a leak or not sealed properly.

I had the same when I fitted a stove, problem with tar from wood running back down which is caused by too large a flue size causing gases to be to cold, solution installed a stainless steel flue never had the problem again but remember to use seasoned wood.

I just used the liner that was in the chimney it was silver and six inch ?, should be ok ,the chimney must be about 8 meters from when it goes in the wall in the kitchen, yea it's not happening tonight but it's not raining ?, and the chimney hadn't been used for years Iill put on a thing on the chimney soon ?

You have one of the fittings upside down on the flue , pipes should fit inside the one below it as you assemble it. Any condensation will stay inside the line as it runs down.

Don't forget Jim, 999 fire brigade :D

Cheers, D.

Take note Jim. I think the first symptom of carbon monoxide poisoning is losing your sense of direction.

But the good point is my gas bill is only between £20-£25 per quarter, as i have only got a gas hob. And yes the glass does need cleaning.
