Uh-Oh What Have I Started?

Recommended Posts

It's a pup. . . . . .

So. . . . be careful with the quad play, both over doing it and flattening the dog (the latter especially when its wet and stopping distance is increased).

Don't worry about the ragging, or the fox smell obsession, it's all new.

But maybe do some work on retrieving etc before flat out chasing and catching / killing games.

He'll be chasing the quad with out the rag very soon , j

Better get a turbo on it.

Note to everyone with the tut tut rolling eyes answers: I have never owned a lurcher till now, hence the questions.

Note to the people with decent answers: Thanks.

To my mind, if your new to training a new breed of dog, you ask before you proceed if your not sure. There are some self professed dog experts on here that I would not trust with a photo of a dog yet alone a real live one.

I will ask before I train him for anything. I just want him to enjoy being a pup for the minute.

Nothing wrong with that what so ever. Just be careful you do not install habits that once installed will be almost impossible to break. Pups are like sponges and it can be so easy to install bad traits that will not show until they are older. Work is work and play is play and never should the two meet.

I should also say that there are also some very good dog trainers on here, who are well worth listening to.

Well done you've fecked your dog now  it'll only be good for catching tshirts

Sounds like you and the pup had a laugh and no harm done, things can't be serious all the time. It would be good a opportunity to work on the drop/leave it command though
