Genuine post here, Dog fox you look in good shape there mate, now the lads who had the best strength to fitness type balance I have ever seen were all wiry fuckers, strong as an Ox but lean and hard a

After a fairly thought provoking couple of years ive finally got my head around a couple of quotes on the subject.   " what we,ve always wanted we dont always get.....but also what we,ve always want

f**k THAT.

My advice is ask yourself:

1. Do I wish to compete?

2. YES, maybe use steroids.

2. If NO, then how old am I?

3. Under 25, hit the weights, I mean work upto 300lbs bench, 350 squat, 400 deadlift. Shit loads of good food, no fags, no booze 3 - 4 times a week for a couple of years

4. No gains (I doubt it) consider steroids.

5. Over 40, go for it,

I'm over 25 but I'm under 40..... Nearly 31. Ha

I do a bit of weights sometimes for approx 3 months at a time so thought I was doing alright until I spoke to my elder nephew. He is big into his fitness being a football coach and personal trainer told me about his 18 year old brother who is lazy as I fitness wise plays a bit of football and wouldnt know the inside of a gym. Big bro takes him down the gym for some weights and they end up doing maximums so big bro can slagging little bro.

Never done weights he maxed 240 kg on deadlift, 185 kg on squat and 155 on bench. Big bro had to eat his words and is taller, fitter and half stone lighter. Little bro is 6'4" 16 1/2 stone and could probably lose stone or two. I never felt so deflated.

Little shit won't do weights as couldn't be arsed. What a waste and no roids needed there.

He most be in the top 1% of genetic freaks, I'm naturally pretty strong and I'm not close to repping those weights. I haven't tried my 1 rep max as I train on my own, I know I'd be able to deadlift 240kg for one rep, I'm used to that kind of lifting at work but I wouldn't be able to squat or bench that yet I don't think. Thats what my elder nephew said that he is just naturally very strong. I thought my deadlift of 200 kgs at 13st was good for 6'2". I'll try and get him up to see me and take him to my gym and try get some motivation into him.

I don't know Gnasher but it is always obvious from his posts on weightlifting etc that he knows what he is talking about, and I would imagine that his knowledge is gained largely from experience.

He is definitely worth listening to...

You don't want to listen to a word gnasher says ... He is nearly sixty weighs about 7 stone soaking wet and the only weight he has lifted was the one on the end of his penis when he tried to get it to stretch to more than 2 inches ... He works part time down at the local gym cleaning the sweat off the machines and mopping out the toilets and shower room and that's where he hears all his information ... He has been known to secretly take pictures of the big boys and photoshop his head onto them ... It's all very sad .........

Seems to always be the way,my brother's 6'11 and about 20 stone,with a bit of a gut.

he can lift more than his weight on the big 3 with next to training and easily manage 6 minute miles over 5+ miles, again with very little training.

for a lad his size he's naturally very athletic, but just a lazy b@stard ,if he had some dedication he could probably do very well at almost any sport, but he chooses the xbox instead.

It seems like it's almost always talent OR dedication.

Some of the really naive comments and quite frankly ludicrous advice thats been dished out re steroids in this thread are the perfect reason why folk wanting to educate themself on such matters really need to get themself into a gym to learn....if you wanted to make your car engine quicker you would go to a garage not take random opinions off strangers.......and car engines dont even effect your health !

I'm going to try and get to spend a couple of days with me and I'll take him to my gym and see what he's like. I know his dad was very strong for his size when he was young so maybe genetic. Who knows but I'll post it when I find out for sure how strong he is.

Im not saying its bullshit mate i wouldnt be that ignorant or bad mannered........but i do find it hard to believe.....guys of 6 ft 4 at 14/15 stone are just not built for powerlifting......and at 18 years old he is nowhere near his true man strength hence competition lifting has categories up to under 23 sometimes under 25 in some federations.......under 18 at 93kg,s id be confident in saying those are British record lifts.........your sure your not getting kg,s mixed up with lb,s ......only you went from metric on his lifts to imperial on his bodyweight :D

Is it possible to do weights properly at home, not big heavy lifts just a bit of lifting

Most definately.........if a person lifting a barbell in their bedroom trains, eats and rests correctly......dedicates and applies themself correctly........they are every bit as much of a bodybuilder as your juiced up gym junkie.
