South hams hunter 8,921
Have been on a group on f/b for several years thats local and specialises in 'working' dog food, one of the members recently adopted a bull/grey. The dog has a few acars on its face which they stated they thought were from dog fighting. After stating the marks look like scars from barb wire and brambles I got removed from the group for advocating dog fighting, I messaged the admin but no reasoning as a working dog shouldn't get any scars. Ffs what can we do! Quote Link to post
BGD 6,436
Surprised they didn't have it down as a bait dog! The amount of women I see down the park with "rescued bait dogs" It's like they feel they have to let everyone know what amazing people they are rescuing these dogs from such horrific situations when in reality the dog was probably just handed in to the rescue center cos the kids got bored of it or some other ordinary reason that wouldn't make the new owners sound like heroes. 1 Quote Link to post
South hams hunter 8,921
I know bgd, the dog I was on about was found a week ago in durham and because they coulsnt find the owner in a week they have rehomed it ratherthan look properly. Problem is these fur mommies spend money so people like 'the sogs butcher' delete people who try and inform/educate them as its bad for business when people tell them their little baby wasnt pulled apart by pitbulls by actually probably ran into a hedge. BGD 6,436
Aye the fur mommy brigade is where the big bucks are and pet food and accessory manufacturers know it. Quote Link to post

Red Center 165
They are the fooking bane of my existence. Yard is on a slope and the ground is not right for kennels so I have to chain one of my dogs so he doesn't jump the fence while I'm gone and I have them COME ONTO MY PROPERTY TO COMPLAIN and then after I explain the situation to them they still abuse me, tell my I'm cruel and report me to the local council. Luckily the council are so used to it they disregard all the complaints because they've visited my yard a few times and know it's all bullshite. I've even been accused of dog fighting with my kelpie/pit/wolfhound/bull bitch because she has scars from pigs. These same people are the ones who's dogs die at 8 from heart problems or something similar due to being fed treats all the time and not being exercised. spannerxoxo 6
They're typical types who think they know everything about nothing. A scar means a dog fight which could really mean a barbed wire or just being clumsy. Our Lurcher had a scar on her back from where she ran into the corner of the coffee table (or something like that I can't even remember) and put a cut in. People always commented thinking it had been done by something else. God only knows what as it wasn't in a position to be anything other than an accident. I had a rescue terrier and people always HAVE to tell you how to train them when in actual fact they're the reason the dog was like she was because people don't have a clue what they're doing. It's all about how they look to everyone else and wanting to look good and caring when in actual fact the dog was clumsy or just wasn't watching where it was going. These people have no idea! unicornleather 60
There's lots of bunny hugging fur mummies out there, makes me careful what I say on facebook. I recently got told off as I dared to advertise anti noise cockerel collars on a poultry facebook group enabling people who'd might have to cull noisy birds because of neighbour complaints to keep the bird! They thought it was cruel when they didn't even know what it is or how it works, there's a lot of ignorant tossers out there. No worse than certain bitting arrangements on a horse! My Lurcher has several scars, 2 from encounters with Foxes, the fox loving brigade don't see or want to see the damage foxes can do or the disease, worms, fleas and mange they can spread. Rest of her scars are from running in to things when hunting. Edited October 26, 2015 by unicornleather Quote Link to post
Blackdog92 2,047
Ive had to deal with the same a thing a while ago from a woman i passed when i was moving some sheep on the fell i always take the lurcher with me for the walk out anyway she came walking along with her lurcher and it was marked up a bit and she said the usual you have your hands full with all them dogs and how much of a good person she was for rescuing this poor hard done to dog then she noticed my lurcher and at the time he was mending a small cut on his front from i dont know what probally bashing into something. So then she comes out with how did your lurcher get that cut on him and i told her. She was having none of it "thats a likely story you sick man you have been baiting with that dog!" So i laughed as i found it pretty funny as my dog to be honest is a coward and if a lamb looked at him wrong he would sh*t himself. Well that didnt help the situation she then came with a tyrade of abuse towards me and that she will be informing the police and the rspca and will get my dogs taken away. So i just said thanks for the input its always nice to talk to such pleasent individuals and i whent on my way. The police or rspca never turned up This is the cut on him its only the size of a 10pence 1 Quote Link to post

South hams hunter 8,921
They're all the same, I told joanne mcmahon - ' the dogs butcher' that surely I wasn't implicating dog fighting by say the bullx bitch had a few scars. She seems to think I did because the dog has scars on her nose and I know abit about aobt history. I said how being a fan of the bullx I appreciate the pure breed aswell but that wasn't valud apparently Quote Link to post
