He should of played....you just have to wing it in those situations its all or nothing either way you get a pat on the back for trying.......years ago over Lloyds Park in Walthamstow i got roped into playing centre half in a full scale 11 a side jumpers for goalposts game.....i was plenty fit enough but im none too graceful with a ball at my feet.....and then i see a young Teddy Sheringham running at me :icon_eek: .......he was still playing for Millwall at the time so thought i might have a bit of fun with him but he didnt seem to take it all that well :D......he scored about 10 goals if i remember right .....i dont know why but i didnt get asked to play very much after that !

Did you do him?

We had a game the othe week, the other team had this youngish lad, looked a bit like Tracey chapman in fact, "oh he's a great player, blah blah blah he was on chelseas cards as a youngster, blah blah f***ing blah" he thought he was the man twists turns step overs the lot, every time he got tackled he was in the players face squaring up, I was wanting a piece of this

First 50/50..... We'll be was displeased to say the least! 100% won the ball but it was one of those where the ball just doesn't move and spins in the same spot? And his face hit the turf before his feet did! of course he squared up, tried a sly head butt, but as he's moved forward, I've "pointed" at him and got him right in the eye....... Fun fun fun

  • 2 weeks later...

Thought seeing as I'm up I'd go through old threads, had a game Tuesday there, playing against a team that are a bit physical (just how I like it) anyway I started, (and scored btw lol) they had this big boy who went through one of our wingers, wee bit of a tussle I went over told our player to get tae and then sort of grabbed their player told him to get in his own half... He's " like get your hands off me, you don't know who I am " I was like "do you think your robocop, get yersel tae f**k ye trumpet" so refs calmed it down (he's one of those refs who's no got a clue) I see the boy running round the back and next thing he shoulder barges me, I just get the red mist and run after him and boot him lol, next thing he's pushed me i push him, he comes up to me so I just nudge my head forward and catch him on the nose, it's bleeding but hardly if that makes sense? By this time the refs there their captains there, our captain is there, it's all kicking off.... The refs no got a clue what's going on, he asks me what happens, tell him the truth, he winded me off the ball so I give him a wee kick, I thought he was going to hit me, he was taller than me and muscly, (I'm just fat) next thing I've got a yellow card and he's been sent off!! how that works I don't know...this is in the 64th minute, Anyway I get a club fine anyway and I'm not allowed to play tomorrow which suits me as I pulled a muscle between my calf and knee when I kicked the boy, as the manager thinks I'm a bad influence?!? That's how it was when I played 10-12years ago? If I wasn't getting/ been paid, (a small signing on fee) I'd seriously think about jacking it and trying to blag my way into the over 35's leagues which seem my cup of tea...

There's some good lads playing vets mate, you would like it.....it's still plenty edgy enough.

I was playing vets in England before I moved, no vets here so I have play standard.

They quiet like the slightly aggressive style of English play as they are all pretty gentlemanly when they play football here.

Keep it up mate, your a long time dead ;)

Mid life crisis???

Did I mention I'm rowing the English Channel next year to raise a few quid for charity.... I think you might be right lol

Your the man Kev!!

You should ask socks, he'd enjoy that.LOL

I'm sure he would, TBH I'm shitting myself a bit lol..

6 of us in a cornish gig from Ramsgate to Nieuwpoort in Belgium.... 52 miles FFS!!

A mate of mine does a couple of big things a year for charity, marathons, iron man etc.. last year he climbed Kilimangiro!

Had a call off him a month back "how'd ya fancy rowing the channel for charity?".... I must of been pissed and said yes lol..

The pair of us are organising it for next October, got 2 decent sponsors on board and after a couple more... gonna do it for Dream Away charity which takes terminally ill kids away on holidays/trips etc...

Once I've got all the details together I'll put a thread up mate

Will do mate, I'll start a proper thread once we have everything sorted.

I didn't think about all the "bits" that make it work, there's more aggro in organising it than doing it I reckon!

But in for a penny in for a pound and all that, we have a couple of local businesses that have agreed to give us their next years marketing budget, the plan is to sale advertising space on the boat to raise the big chunk needed..

Got a couple more to tap over the next couple of weeks, then it'll be launched properly with the sponsors and charity on board. My mates uncle owns a smart pub up town offered us the downstairs for a launch night with local papers etc...

Then it's just the small matter of learning to row and getting fit!! lol
