Got to love this laid back attitude out in the sticks. One of the guys my son works with plays for the 2nd XV of a local rugby club. A couple of Fridays ago, he asked my lad if he fancied a game of rugby that night. It wasn't a kickabout, it was a league match. :icon_eek:

Ben said he didn't know the rules well enough to play and the reply was "Don't pass it forward and you'll be O.K."

He declined, but said he might have if he'd had more than 3 hours notice. Brilliant stuff. :D I wonder if they played with 14 players that night? :hmm:

Haha, fair play to you mate.....some things are the same all over the world ! Lol

Are you still playing?......it's hard when you ain't played for a long time.....the old brains will but the body isn't co-operating sort of thing ! Lol

Walshie, wouldn't a training game of rugby be a "throw a bout" not a kick about ???

Old legs young head.... Or is it the other way about?!?! lol

Still trying mate work every second Saturday so it's hard signed for my mates team for last 4 games of season and this season when I can make it,

Had a fame on Tuesday and injured myself within 30 seconds of going on, trying to stamp my authority on the game....

There's a difference though between asking someone who plays amateur football fairly regularly (however lardy he is :whistling: ) if he wants to play, to asking my son who's never even picked up a rugby bat.

Not unusual at all, happens regular! :D Quite hard to get the village and small town rugby and football teams together these days with the way peoples work commitments are now. Once roped my mate in for a game of youth team rugby, the guy had never played rugby or ever been round the whole culture of it in his life..

...which is why he thought it might be a good idea to let it slip on the bus on the way home that it was my 21st birthday! :o:laugh: He was quite shocked at the treatment I got, and when we stopped at a pub on the way home he caught the look on my face and scarpered off into the pub before I could get hold of him! :D Had a bloody great night in the end! :D

The town I moved to has a first and reserve team and I also play on the astro every week......the regulars teams are all young, fit lads who play football and GAA......I thought "f**k it, your a long time dead" and signed for the team.

They was like "who's is this daft old c**t" when I went training but I can still ping a ball around and they took to my "robust" style of English forward play.

The big downside however is the current style of tight football shirts !!!.......I look like a chicken stuffed inside a condom !!!.......I can't f***ing breath man !!

Definitely not flattering !! Lol lol
