pablo esc 1,598
BEEN OUT A FEW TIMES A WEEK THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. DOGS KEEN AND BEEN ALRIGHT IN THE MIND. BBUT HAD A FEW Strange Outings on the places, like a blast from the past of while back. And weren't sure if it was barking or digging at nothing much, and nearly lost, one i took out twice on its own in sandy stuff, and i thought I'd be well used to that ( sand types) area's. Just hope the dog's or dog doesn't turn out a waster. Oh well let's hope it goes well, and to be careful, ( me) I'd Hate to smuther a dog. Dug a hole other week, to narrow down and on my own, and panic because i was thinking the dog was buried itself in. The seem to be fairly clevertthough.?? 1 Quote Link to post

steve t 1,070
gently gently catches monkey in them soft spots, had a seven footer myself in soft stuff the other day, was worried about it collapsing the whole time, and quarry can fairly shift in it given a chance 1 Quote Link to post
Zilverhaze 1,627
I done a little test a About a month or so ago I dug down put a spade between took the dog out chained him up but ied gone to deep to get the last bits of spoil out the dig so I filled the tube leading away then I sat on the edge of the dig and watched the quarry he dug threw about 3 foot of spoil in about 25 seconds and bang on the tube 2 of them one dug one followed and as I broke threw one was facing the dog and one was digging on was nice to watch was a strange one as I dug the same pair from the same earth a couple of weeks previous 3 Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
Good stuff Steve, and haze. Yes the dog weren't messing in and out, and wasn't too head strong to just keep digging and staying, when the ggame, was well gone or round another part of the earth. Tubes seem to be fairly tight though, even though the never seem that tight few years back. Maybe some still need to be moving in properly, etc, colder now tonight though. Quote Link to post
fat man 4,741
Not gone on the sandy earths, especially when the quarry is diging on and terrier has to dig after it,always fear a collapse, running sand very dangerous stuff. Quote Link to post

pablo esc 1,598
YES, MET THE RUNNING SAND, A PLACE WOULD COME TO MIND, ON A BANK NEAR A RIVER, CANAL, BOTH DOG AND FOX NEARLY SMOTHERED BY A SECOND OR MORE, THAT WAS THE NINETEES. BUT THIS OTHER OUTING MADE ME THINKING OF WHAT YOU JUST SAID, IN THE DIGGING ON. Quote Link to post
rob284 1,682
You need an active dog for those earths. Sometimes you can hear the quarry digging away as you approach the earth. Quote Link to post
Francie 6,368
Tricky stuff if the game is educated, I just stay clear of it, unless shallow, say 5foot an under. Quote Link to post
pablo esc 1,598
That's the thing, something ( else) , when the game well educated in time and learnt properly to know it's area, and earth, it's a different story and another one to respect the quarry and the dog Quote Link to post
