South hams hunter 8,922
Its all good saying it was better and that back then but you cant say they had the same amount of gear or even the opportunities we get in this day and age because of how we do it now Quote Link to post
Bo Duke 420
I got into the running dogs by picking up a couple of "latchkey" lurchers that belonged to the local hard man he turned them away for the day and I'd usually find them in one of their haunts and take them off for the day ratching around. Couldn't do it now they'd be picked up and the owner fined. The owner of them dogs got shot by the police and I never saw them after that but it's a small world and by a strange twist of fate the chap who bred them is on moochers and on here I think. scottish lurcher 185
My dad told me at the end of the war food was still being rationed , so people didn't report guys poaching it was extra food that was needed to feed family's and every house hold had lurchers. Infact the local woods and fields was full of guys working dogs . 1 Quote Link to post
buster gonads 862
Bob 84. We used to put the battery's in the metal cans the car oil came in I used to use the bottom off a Sq plastic gallon bottle to stop the acid, my jackets always had holes in the bottom corners due to piss dribbleing out of Hares in my inside pockets, even though i pissed them, wish i could turn back time. LaddyLurcher 261
I,d just like to add, i,v never driven over a field and never will do, iam from a generation that always thought if i leave no trace where i,v been, then nobody will be looking for me. Upto now its served me well. I have only just started Lamping but you would think that's just common sense, shame there's people who don't give a toss about how it affects us all Quote Link to post
LOL 212
Back in the 70s we had the spot lamp of a bus and 12 volt motor bike battery .The battery was put in a plastice container to stop the acid burning coat but it did,nt work Quote Link to post
