k-r10 0
Hello all. New here. I recently got a pulsar challenger with dsa to go on a mamba lite 4×16 44. After testing it out and reading on the Internet. Many people recommend getting an additional ir iluminator. So I went out and got a tracer ledray ir. These are apparently good for 400 meters. Mine seems to be good for about 20 meters. So very disappointed with this. Has any one else used one of these. Have I got a dodgy one. I'm going to be shooting rats and rabbits up to 40 yds. Can anyone recommend an ir iluminator for this. The built in ir on the pulsar seems to be a lot better than the tracer but is obstructed by the scope. Thanks
BRY 79
Hi the challenger is a Gen 1 tubed nv, most of the ir out there are on a 850 wavelength , these work really good with digital nv and not with lower gen1 tubes. I have a Challenger gen1 , haven't used it for a few years. But I will try a few of my ir units on it see which is the best, Also a lot depends on the scope you are putting behind. the onboard ir is rubbish only good for a few yards if that. David.evans 5,323
Best thing to do kr is take it back its no good for ur unit , buy a t20 , and you will be over the moon with the results , ive got one one on the n870 and the ir is good out to 250 ish yards

k-r10 0
Thanks for the info. Went to our chicken farm last night. First time out with the nv. shooting rats at 10- 15 meters. Couldn't belive how well it works. Never shot so many rats in 2 hours. Will definitely be looking at getting a ir laser. Cheers guys
