BGD 6,436
Blame China, they need some liquid cash so they are releasing a big heap of their stockpile onto the world market How an they produce it for cheaper and we English cannot tho that's what I don't understand State subsidies. They're also selling at a loss at the moment just to keep the furnaces running I think? Don't know why anyone is surprised, another Tory government, another British industry killed.

Blackbriar 8,569
HS2 will need countless miles of steel rail, as will the proposed HS3 and the proposed modernisation existing lines. I know, says Cameron, let's allow our steel mills to close and give the job to the Chinese instead ! Oh, and while we're at it, on the same day as this devastating announcement, why don't we roll out Her Majesty and a red carpet to welcome the Chinese leader......! BGD 6,436
Am I right in saying this is Britain's steel making capability completely finished? 100% reliant on foreign imports from now on? I can't see how that's good for the country
stealthy1 3,964
Problem is, too much steel produced worldwide, there are stock piles of the stuff, both scrap and new. We just don't use steel in the quantities that are produced, even the Chinese can't shift it at bottom dollar prices. The NHS is bust due to it being abused, to many pen pushers and not enough nurses. The doctors know f**k all. I used to think doctors were well trained to a high standard in this country, until I became really ill, and then I saw them in the real light of day, most of them no nothing, and worse than that, you can't tell them they know nothing, because they are so far up their own arses it's pitch black, and you can't go any were to complain.
BGD 6,436
So defense industry steel etc is safe? Fair enough, steel a bad do though
stealthy1 3,964
HS2 is not for the people, it's a bus ride out of London to the new cheaper country homes for the few who can afford it, and nothing else, another con. The trains we have now can do 125mph, but they don't, or can't.
truescot 234
The steel workers should do what the ship yard workers did in Glasgow. Refused to leave and kept on working . Forced the government into doing something. Knowing this government though they probably f***ing jail them lol
