charlie caller 3,654
I was going to do the same thing with mine, after fitting it, I realised it was not needed, mine is a laminate stock, and what I like about the Boyds is the two steel pins passing through the stock, they do seem to add real rigidity, but if you still want to bed it Acraglass or as Hutchey says Devcon is the way forward mate. Marctitty 92
Hi guys thanks for the reply what is your stock for Charlie as mine is for a howa 1500 and it's a sporter stock but it does not have any metal in it mate. Also is there any inperticular Devcon I have to get cheers guys Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Funny that mine was for my Weatherby vanguard, which is exactly the same rifle as a Howa 1500, and mine is a pepper laminate sporter, Boyds put two steel cross pins, that you cant see in their stocks, one about inch and a half from trigger guard area, the next around 3 inches further along, yours will have them mate, Devcon 10110 mate, but that said I see no reason why you could not use chemical metal, Holts for instance that you buy in the car spares shop, in fact they look so similar, I am not convinced they are not the same thing. Marctitty 92
Mine should be the same ill give the rifle a bash thus weekend without bedding see how I get on then cheers lads Quote Link to post
Born Hunter 17,842
Out of interest, how exactly did you get the stock? They're $129, right? Boyds won't export stocks to the UK with a value of over $100 without you having a federal export license. As you can see from my thread, I had a bit of bother with this! So how the feck did you get hold of it? LOL Quote Link to post
Marctitty 92
They were $99 when I placed my order mate and about $74 shipping it came about 2 weeks ago like but 9nly naw getting around to changing it over. I know if your gun dearler deals with Highland outdoors they can place a order for you but the price may vary and they only deal with trade 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
Check the metalwork fit, the stock may well need a bit of fettling, then try the rifle. Don't rush into bedding (especially if you've never done it) before you try the rifle. Very few rifles are bedded in the great scheme of things, and frankly very few need it! Quote Link to post
charlie caller 3,654
Unless it is like mine, which dropped in straight away and required no fettling at all and at once impoved accuracy to the extent where bedding was not needed. Quote Link to post
