bonehead 92
I bring em inside over night but that's mainly to stop them barking at the wildlife all night long. And also because of thieving cnuts running a dog fighting ring in my town stealing peoples dogs from their yard. I was raised no dogs in the house full stop but I don't mind it provided they aren't all over you the whole time I much prefer my dogs to be in kennel but due to dog thefts in area and a stolen lurcher being found with half a face covered in fag burns I now keep my ones in house and living conditions won't affect work without slagging folk off look at some of the greyhound kennels in the past dogs sitting in there own shite !dirty cold kennels with no natural light leaking water and the seemed to win Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
The best Hare catching dog I ever seen slept in front of the fire, and on top of the owners bed, saw it run against all type of crosses that would have been kenneled, 1 Quote Link to post
bird 9,863
I wouldent want a working lurcer stinking my house out , they come back with sum funk y smells on them , I heard salukis thrive on living indoors with the nomads but they live in tents spot on, its not about the dogs abilty as a worker,by living in your house or outside, its what you think about your house,?having had dogs living in before, and now not living in i know what better, the house smells great, cleaner etc plus i think dogs like there own space, if they had hard night or day, or got nice bone etc,.mine live outside but i spend fair amount of time with them in the summer and winter. i know few old people who live on there own, and they got little pet type dogs, and they keep them in and get great pleasure from them, nothing wrong with that.but a little 9lb dog was bought for as pet easy to keep clean etc, my son got a little jack woody lol nice little dog he keeps in his house, when we have him for the odd day or week,he stays inside with us thats about it though, i would'nt want Bryn or Buck living in my house, and dont think they like it either they got there own space even though i think they kip together, never found then togther but think they do lol. 1 Quote Link to post

mackay 3,328
Had them both kennelled and indoors over the years, made not a jot of difference to their working ability. There's other factors to consider, a house lurcher taken hunting every other weekend is not likely to be better than a kennelled dog taken out daily, to say a dog will be better due to living in doesn't make sense. Listening to some of the guys promoting living in, they seem to think all kennelled dogs are laid in some cold urine soaked box. I own and have seen lots of kennels that are cleaner, warmer than some of the shit holes of houses some dogs live in. 2 Quote Link to post

mushroom 12,870
I like my dogs in the house tbh. But in saying that none have been a cnut like this one. So I do think a bit of space would be better. I plan on moving out of the city next year, gonna buy or rent a house in one of the villages. Then this cnut is outside in kennels. Quote Link to post

drid 22
OVER THE YEARS YOU HEAR YOU CANT HAVE A LURCHER AS A PET PLUS A WORKER,, WELL I HAVE HEARD SUCH DOGS THAT ARE PETS CALLED CIRCUS DOGS. ILE BE TOTALLY HONEST WITH EVERYONE ON THIS SITE MY YOUNG DOG WILL GIVE ME ITS PAW ROLL OVER, TO NAME JUST A COUPLE OF LITTLE TRICKS HE DOES. BUT GET HIM IN THE LAMPING FIELDS OF A NIGHT, TOTALLY SWITCHED ON LIKE A FINE TUNED SPIRIT OF THE NIGHT. MY PAL WAS TELLING ME A STORY ABOUT HIS PURE LUKE BITCH, AND HOW A CERTAIN PERSON USE TO RIB HIM ABOUT THE BITCH BEING OBEDIANT AND LIVING INDOORS, HIS BITCH WAS THE BEST OUT OF ALL THREE SALUKIS. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS FELLA,S, INDOOR WORKER PLUS PET, OR STRICTLY IN KENNELS. good post Quote Link to post
