rabbit hunting

hey guys iv bin havin trouble getin rabbits to bolt without puttin me terriers to ground.i know there are rabbits in the holes as my dogs seem very intersted and have nevergone near an empty burrow before. this is especially annoying after a long day out. smoking doesent seem to work either although i only use fires dont have a proper chainsaw yolk. any ideas? stringer9 :wallbash:

Ask someone (competant) local with ferrets if you can go out with him. Leave your terriers at home, watch how things work then decide if this is for you or not. Do some research about ferrets and then make your decision. Good Luck!

said it on your other thread mate...try stinking them out....same principle as farting in a lift the occupants get out till the airs cleared, parafin soaked rags and other nasty smelling articles placed into the holes and the rabbits will temporarily move out and seek refuge above ground or in alternative holes.............but only temporarily and will dive back below ground when chased or will move to nearby warrens unless they are all done

 

find a knowledgeable ferreter nearby and listen and learn......if your dogs have already killed rabbits and rats and are adults you wont be able to trust them with ferrets as they will see them as prey as well......a pup brought up with ferrets though is a different prospect

I have bolted rabbits when using a smoker for rats,but i would not go out with the intention of rabbiting with a smoker :wallbash:

A ferret is the way forward mate :victory:
