BLACKBOB 9
I used my beretta al 391 extrema this weekend on my shoot. I dont normally use it for game birds, just took it for a change from my OU. Its not that old and has not had 1000s of cartridges through it, its never given me a moments trouble. Anyway this weekend was a nightmare i was using Ely 70mm 32g 6 and it would fire the first cartridge, eject it reload and then for some reason it wouldnt fire the second cartridge. This happened on numerous occasions, sometimes if i pulled the trigger a couple of times it would fire, sometimes it would fire all three no problem. Then later on it started to jam on reloading the second shell. By now i wanted to put a sledge to it. It absolutly ruined my day, ended up with just six birds. Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be, as the are rated as extremely reliable. Someone said it could be the cartridges Cheers bob Quote Link to post

Spike01 0
If that does not do it, get it down the gun smiths. Most beretta part are under guarantee Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
It could be the "batch" of cartridges as 32's should work fine, this gun is designed to work down to 24! My first guess is a good clean, its a real pain to do the job well on these as the gas residues gets everywhere and get well burnt on if you don't clean them regularly. It takes me 10-20 minutes to give my 686 a good clean but can easily take a hour to do the job on my 391. It could well take you a couple of hours if you have not done it for a long time. Once clean smear all the internal surfaces with gun oil, but just so you can feel it, DO NOT SOAK the surfaces with oil as there is every chance you will clog up the action after a few shots. If you are still having problems after this try another cartridge and if no better back to your dealer or GMK! Deker Edited November 19, 2007 by Deker Quote Link to post
Guest Macnas
In addition to all the very good recommendations you've already received, I can only second the encouragement to fully strip and clean your gun. I would very much doubt the the choice of cartridge had much to do with the problem, a gun like that should be able to handle anything you feed it Check the magazine tube feed spring, make sure its seated correctly and applying constant presure to the cartridges in the tube, and check the feed ramp. Do this especially, check to see that it's free of gunk and debris. The action of this component regulates how cartridges are fed forward to the chamber, so investigate it properly. BLACKBOB 9
Just an update, i stripped the whole thing down and it was dry and dirty i gave it a dam good clean and a good oiling. Anyway after re assembling it felt smoother and i was quite confident that was the problem sorted. Today i took it on the shoot and first shots no problems, second drive got on my peg and there were pegs in front of me, so i became a back gun. anyway the guns in front missed their target and i took aim and fired first cartridge bang (missed), eject, reload and nothing No click from the fireing pin, ejected cartridge manually, pulled trigger, click went the pin, reloaded next cartridge manually, pulled on bird nothing. :censored: Feck. Done this again for the third time. After drive pointed the gun in the air and fired off the three cartridges which i had to repeatedly pull the trigger. Somethings not right as it took five pulls on the trigger and it had nothing to do with the speed of the reload. Put it by and used my O/U not happy, think il have to put it in.
