Lurcherlad, without wishing to be contentious, you did take that black and tan pup out lamping at 10 months old after only owning her for a couple of days I think, and you were pissed off that it was pulling up at a few bushes! Now, you can get as defensive, aggressive, pissed off etc with people as much as you like, you were given some good, common sense advice and, like most impulsive newcomers that can't wait, or haven't got the patience needed to have half a chance with a dog, you chose to run it TOO YOUNG, TOO SOON, and seemingly without much knowledge of the bitch. Arcticgun gave some good advice, and who better? After all, he did breed it and obviously knows the line well.

Some people will never learn, and aren't cut out for keeping lurchers

yes i no that i should i gave it more of a chance but i never any yes maybe i made the wrong choice by selling it

Nice bitch that, I really was interested in her, and you'll probably be kicking yourself this time next year. You keeping track of her and progress etc?

my bitch direct off buddy, bought her as a 6 week old pup, she's coming up 5 yrs old now, this hare was first shot and then retrieved on written permission as the law allows

Surely 'the hunting game' is all about picking a pup you like, then putting all your time and effort into that pup, building a bond so that the dog will do anything, even give its life if necessary to

give the lad a break ffs,

I've not seen any abuse other than from the lad himself. As I've said before if your making a post on a public forum then the whole point is that people will post their personal opinions in reply, otherwise there is no forum.

If those post are showing off your new pup or dog and a week or so later you've got rid then I would of thought it would be fairly likely people are gonna reply on that same thread with their opinions/comments.

I agree this has got a bit petty but by putting posts out there surely we are all inviting others input/comments and criticisms?

I'm sure the lad isn't bothered about my or any other persons posts or opinions on his dogs as I wouldn't be by his comments or opinions of me or my dogs. If he is then I apologise for that and a mod can remove my posts. Cheers

Different lines mature at different rates but from my experience they usually hit their stride between 14-18 months and then start to learn their gears etc. Slowest maturing dogs I've seen were staghound x wolfhound, my uncle had one big male about 10 years ago who was 34 tts and 48kg in hard condition and was fookin useless until he hit 2 years. Just completely uninterested in anything other than running around and playing, pissing on bushes etc and then a couple of days after his 2nd birthday he just switched one and after that he was an absolute machine. Seen him kill 30-40 kg pigs and rag em like they were a rabbit, fook he was a good dog. My uncle is still running his grandkids and reckons they aren't a touch on their granddad
