I have mixed british before, goldies, greenies and redpolls all into together and had no problems and even had a pair of chaffies in with them and never had a squabble ever BUT,my aviary was a T shape and i had a wooden shed at the cross of the T so the birds sort of sorted them selves out into sections of their own as such. Those birds got on but the main greenie cock i have now wouldn't have another cock about where he could get at it and have seen him trying through the wire at other cocks of other types that live next door to him, also bullies are buggers for taking chunks out of other birds and i myself would risk it with them in a mixed aviary unless it was very big.My own aviary is 24 ft long by 6-8 ft wide(it gets wider at one end) and i wouldn't mix the all the different sorts i have(goldies, greenies, bullies, chaffies and redpolls, plus a few goldie mules) in together in there as the birds themselves (or some of them at least) wouldn't have it and would kill each other.

So some will mix and some won't but go easy  as you don't usaly get the chance to do something about it until you find a dead or smashed up bird and then it's to late :cray: ..

Lurcher phil don't ever feel you can't ask a question on this part of THL as not one of us knows it all but were happy to share what we do know and no question is ever daft here either :victory: and good luck on your new hobby mate  ,,

I have just bought a young pair of Siberian bull finches, wasn't really prepared for them in the sense they would have there own aviary straight away, but thought I would over winter them in my community aviary. But now reading what's been said, In the last few post's think I might start making it a lot sooner.

Over winter they should be ok(not 100% fact though) and i have had native bullies share over winter but they are the first i seperate when the sun starts warming up in the spring and sibo's are a bit more mellow than our natives so they might share better but i've never kept sibo's so don't know about them to much.Taz off here is your man for knowledge on sibo/northern bullies and he has some wonderfull birds  ..
