Brewman 1,192
Would it work attached to the dog's collar? I don't know any thing about them if they have to be attached to a limb.

My new iphone 6 will be here and I'm gonna strap my old iphone 5 to the dogs collar, wrapped in a plastic bag, and turn on "map my walk". Will use my mates phone to see what mileage we do. Then compare ?

Ideation 8,216
Its really interesting with the Garmins, looking at what you have done and what the dogs have done, and also comparing individual dogs. If whilst mooching you're getting some good hunts and runs, they can do far more than you. On an average 2 hour walk, with no spectacular hunts, just the odd blast after something put up, going out to maybe 500m away at the furthest point, they regularly do 12-15km.
Neal 1,857
I've heard of sheepdogs having pedometers fitted and doing a hundred miles in a day. I guess it depends on the individual dog...if it's one which barely leave you're ankle then it will only do a tad more than you whereas one which continually p*ss*s off a few hundred yards and keeps having to be whistled back then it could do three or four times as much as you.
