What Kind of terriers are they.

If they are the fell type...........DONT DO IT!

Strip it.

This time of year just pull out any loose stuff.

In spring hand strip it down to the wood.

Any long bits in awkward place clip with a long blade.

To be honest...............just read your thread properly.............Dont Know :icon_redface:

The coats SHOULD be stripped, but if you have to clip them. use number 7 on their bodies and legs and number 10 on their head. Number 15 are for Poodles feet and faces etc.. Leave their beards alone, trim their feet with scissors. Its much better for the quaslity of the coat to handstrip though.

feck knows what happened with the last post? i`ve got a 15 month old bitch not had a season whole bodies a deep pink colour and a bald tail. I was thinking protein or some sort of dificiency I tried everything frontlined change of bedding the vet doesn't seem to think that this is the problem tried malaseb antibacterial and antifungal shampoo which seemed to work for a bit now we are half way through a course of advocate which is a spot on solution which seems to be working but not 100 % at the min she won a lot of stuff at the shows had a load of interested folk wanting to buy her but i`ve had to hang onto her for now

Yes you wont need any other sizes for Terriers. Use the number 10 on the ears too. Dont use the number 15 it will shave them bald. I have been stripping and clipping dogs for about 14yrs, I will say when you do the first clip you will most probably think its a mess. When you have clipped the dog, bath it, then dry it completely, then clip the dog again, you will be surprised how much comes away and it will leave a much smoother finish. I must reiterate though, they should ideally be stripped to maintain the correct coat texture, once clipped the coat will NOT be weatherproof, you ought to consider that if your dogs live outside.

Best of luck, I want to see before and after pics!!

Dawn.
