I was living at on Scampton base when i first got married, The lancaster was on the gate at that time,

the noise of more than one vulcan on the run way used to make the house shake...

I have been lucky and now live a stones throw away, the Vulcan came by for quite a few fridays during the summer, she was here last week, its a great shame its come to a sad end.

The Red Arrows are training the new rookies You can always tell :whistling:

Makes You very proud to be British.

i lived in a room that faced the main runway at Brize Norton, never ending 24hr window and wall rattling

My aunt said the same thing when her and my uncle were stationed at Turnhouse Airbase, who the f**k wants cracked heirlooms.

Sat in my folks garden this afternoon having a coffee with the old man on what has been a beautiful autumn day...   ...heard that familiar roar and looked up to see the Vulcan going home.   It's b

Sad day. Saw one at an air show as a kid, that distinctive Vulcan howl as the olympus engines revved up and drank the air in over the intakes as it came down the runway will stay with me for life.

Where my parents live, where I grew up, we were quite privileged really. They've probably seen the Vulcan a dozen times this summer, over the years obviously many more times. A couple of months back my dad saw it point it's nose up and floor it, climbing like feck and making a hell of a racket, right over the village. He'll take that memory to his deathbed I'm sure.

It's not uncommon to see Spitfires, Hurricanes, The Lancaster, even Wellingtons and Dakotas.

As well as modern aircraft obviously. Seeing a couple of F-15s real high, having what looked like a mock dogfight was cool.

The Vulcan was something special though..... I'll miss hearing that.

No flying wellingtons pal only statics unfortunately.....

based not far from me, one aw-sum plane and did the impossible at the time in 82 by bombing the Argentinean mainland, should be funded by the government or at least the ex forces charities

It was the Falklands it bombed to take out the runway, there's an excellent book on it caller Vulcan 607, at. The time it was the longest ever bombing raid performed. It's an incredible story....

I used to see the vulcan a lot as a kid always a joy definitely one of the greats. .. The A10 tank busters were my favourite to watch though doing low flying practice bombing runs on targets on the power station unreal how they could throw them around.

They used to have a mosquito flying until it crashed a few years ago that was a twin engined fighter bomber or the Bristol Bleniheim but that only recently become airworthy.

The display typhoon is worth a watch at conisby, the

Times are usually posted on the fb page, amazing seeing that been thrown around the sky at low altitude

Quite looking forward to seeing the F-35 in action myself. Fully intend to go down to see HMS QE with her air group in a few years. Never been to a naval base so might as well wait for a good one.

The Kiwis have got a airworthy Mossie. Best WW2 plane of them all IMO..

Agreed I love that aircraft, there's rumours of an airworthy one soon for the UK. Let's hope so.
