Del1810 5
Falklands is a nice place mate did a couple of tours down there. It's Barron and only a couple of trees on the island. The weather is erratic to say the least down there and be prepared to run out of supplies as I believe a container ship only resupplies the island every couple of months. The globe is the only decent pub down there mate. The raf only fly in a couple of times a week and a flight from chile on Saturday mornings. You get bags of milk not bottles. Pack plenty of thermals for down there as its freezing and I mean freezing. The wind chill factor bring the temperature down even more. Keep your home well stocked up on everything unless your staying in port Stanley as you'll no doubt get snowed in and the main road is undriveable when it's real bad. Best wishes and good luck Quote Link to post
Del1810 5
Oh and the fishing is very good too Quote Link to post
MIK 4,756
Some of the best sea trout fishing in the world Quote Link to post
krawnden 1,036
About 10 years ago I met a guy who used to go fly fishing there every year. I had a feeling it was mainly brownies he used to catch, but having read what others have said here maybe I'm wrong and it was sea trout.... But either way I do remember him raving about what a fantastic place it was to fish. But be warned - he did say it gets very windy there so you need to be a competent caster. Quote Link to post

Del1810 5
To right they do although last time I was down there berthas beach didn't have a single penguin on it. Penguin tipping used to be good fun. Quote Link to post

Del1810 5
Sending them walking into a mine field was a popular past time for some people until they were classed as protected. Think an army lad got prosecuted for it and got a massive fine and 28 days inside a few years back Quote Link to post
