Dewclaw69 484
loads of dogs chipped and sold on without being updated. going to be hard to keep up with them all when moved on cant see that washing with the plod when a lurcher owner is stopped with a dog registered elsewhere. it'll end up in the pound. you can bet that bit will be included in the law about it being the owners responsibility to update registration. The chipping company have you then as well as plod. they already charge to re register wait till the law comes in they'll triple the fee and once again the lads who can least afford it will end up footing the bill. get yer dogs chipped 1 Quote Link to post
*The*Field*Marshall* 674
Funny you should say that, my dog was judged at a show in the summer by a well known coursing man, when he noticed the tatoo in his ear he said "is he a greyhound ?!?" He'd never known of a working dog tattooed! In answer to your question, I looked up the National Dog Tatoo Register, I found a local guy who I happened to know through another capacity, he's done mine - all legit, £25 pound per dog. . Cheaper if you had a litter done I think Quote Link to post

nans pat 2,575
Its not about making money, its about trying to reduce the stray population, what happens if your dog gets stolen and moved out of the area, least with a chip you have a chance to get the dog back if it turns up as a stray etc. suppose to have them chipped here in the north nun of us do it,if plod stops we say the dogs up here on trial from dublin were it not legal so the border comes in handy, lol what if out coursing and dog goes on motorway causing mayhem ,goes in among sheep and starts mauling match and its chipped to you yer fooked.lol Quote Link to post
bracken boy 584
One question, would you chip a 13 n half yr old dog??? Not hunting now??? Quote Link to post

Over stretched police force my arse if they have time for this I assume they wont be walking around scanning every dog. only dogs or people their interested in will get the treatment. That being said if their going down that route they will be spending their time dealing with those people anyway so a quick scan wont waste much extra time Quote Link to post
gnipper 6,508
If it can help stop the shelters getting full of unwanted dogs (staffies) it's a good thing imo. It might f**k a few peddlers up too. 1 Quote Link to post
