Further Update On New Lurcher Association

Recommended Posts

in a pride of lions the old top male gets killed or dethroned by a younger fitter male whos come into his prime, this ensures the new blood required to take the pride further. alc has had its day time for the new lion to take over (lagbi) and take it further. with great risk comes greater reward

the meeting with Tim Bonner and the steering group went well they felt, were minutes taken of the meeting? What did Tim Bonner actually offer the lagbi? that is not being revealed yet?

Hadn’t Trenchfoot answered that pages back?

Oh well it would take a while to find it for you so here’s a quote of the report sent to members of the steering group from him after the meeting.

“The meeting went very well. Tim was very responsive about the need to be seen to be doing more in support of lurchers (working and otherwise). He also admitted that LAGBI denouncing all the illegal, bad practice carried out by certain lurcher owners was also much needed and to by applauded.

As such, they are more than willing to have an article, which he has invited Penny to write on any thing she see's fit, to go in the CA quarterly magazine for its paid up members. He will also look to spread the word out to the general press, in hunting friendly areas, talking about legal aspects of lurcher work etc. This he would also look to extend to some of the shooting press, such as the shooting times so as to reach out to land owners, shooters and keepers etc.

Tim see's the role of the CA as a conduit for sharing and managing the supply of information between its members, the powers that be and the media/general public. As such any website of LAGBI, could act as a portal for the CA to share good practice/ news to and from the lurcher community. A link then could be set up between "our" website and theirs.”

I do struggle with these continued claims of cloak and dagger stuff you seem so pre occupied with leview lol.

right 2 of your steering group had a meeting with Tim Bonner of the CA 2 week back as mentioned above, no mention of the meeting until Friday evening :hmm: I'd of been crowing from the roof tops if that was the case. your steering group were all over on our profiles no problem with that, finally asked why? did they want to talk? they did want to talk to Alan Tyers? this was after he was dismissed by them in the locked thread after being told repeatedly by many that his input would be beneficial.

the phone rings and it was trenchfoot inquiring about Alan Tyers, quite along conversation and the phone was passed to myself to have a chat, now I'd spoken with Mushroom the previous evening and made a prediction, so here was my oppertunity to ask straight out "Did Tim Bonner say words to the effect that you need to speak with Alan Tyers as he is the representative voice for lurchers in here and the CoH" slight pause and then "well yes he did"

Would you like to confirm that?

Sorry had to leave this post that still has n't been confirmed

in the conversation you said" I was lead to believe Alan Tyers was with us" when I asked what your plan B was? your answer "we dont have one" so who told you that Alan Tyers was with us?

Yes Skycat, Trenchfoot, Desertbred, Mushroom and myself with support from some decent people here and elsewhere. . As I said in the PM, three of those asked me to contact you hence the PM, I honestly believe that no group will get anywhere by playing games or refusing to work with other groups.

Thank You Kindly, i will pass it on.

When all this started there was no club so a group of like minded people started to get ideas together of creating a way of getting the CA to represent us (better). From that was drawn up a steering group, who's aim was to draw up a format of a new "association" for lurchers. Alan Tyres reminded people that the ALC was still in existence, to most peoples surprise and that it had a chair on the council of hunting. Alan also offered up some advice based upon his own thoughts. These were taken on board and put into the mix by the steering group.

The steering group decided on a working title for the new group (LAGBI) and prepared for their meeting with Tim Bonner of the CA. During this period, communications broke down between those that were in the steering group and those that were not. I do not know the reason why, but have apologised publicly on this forum and moochers for that happening. This breakdown did not become apparent to the steering group until the article relaunching the ALC as the AWL appeared in the CMW.

As it stands those that were not in the steering group have decided to ignore the work put into guiding a new lurcher association, and put their support behind the old guard. An old guard who have had no impact in 10 years, at best. They have chosen a direction that is not in line with the findings of the steering group and recent experience has shown that a meeting of the two groups would have been a "tin hats required" scenario.

When Giro and Dewclaw got this process started back in early September, I knew that the cart had been put before the horse. Time was needed to bring on board many other parties, before any official group was created, let alone elect a committee. As it is the AWL have apparently solved the problem by putting the dinosaurs before the cart.

As it stands, I wish them luck.

Y.I.S Trenchfoot

Can one of your steering group get on the Council of Hunting? Would you need a member on the council to make it work?

There is one seat for "lurchers" on the Council, Alan Tyers holds that due to historic reasons. If you need to be on the council for a "lurcher organisation" to work is an interesting topic that remains to be answered in the future. ;)

Yes I'd like an honest reply please

Y.I.S Leeview

When we spoke to Tim, the steering group were lead to believe that Alan was up to speed on the role of the steering group and that he had had email discussions with 2 members of that group. I even asked him openly on this forum if he was aware of the agenda. I got no answer as the thread was locked. All discussions with Tim were based about the vision for LAGBI as a new group. He agreed with the plan that we presented and the path that was chosen. When asked about Alan and the ALC, he said "thats down to you and Alan to sort out". The first thing after that meeting to sort out was a direct contact with Alan to see what involvement he wanted going forward. We attempted to do that. We have still heard nothing back.

With regards to the plan B, you are right. We did not have one. We did not need one. Our objective was to investigate the opportunities with the CA and other parties and then present the findings as a detailed package to the rest of those interested from the start. We did that. Some of those interested parties have chosen to ignore the work that those that started it wanted to be done.
