bob84 189
I've had two interviews in the last couple of months. I know one company rang for references and to see about my certs and got called back for a second interview and shown around the factory never heard anything from them after that but the following Monday got called into the office in and asked what another company wanted to see my certs for. How would I go about getting copies of them.
Brewman 1,192
Tell them the certs are yours as you qualified in the courses. Look as possibly going to the union rep if you have one. Can you not contact the training company in England and ask for copies. Surely they'll be able to do that even if a nominal fee has to be paid.
bob84 189
Yes there is a union rep but there apart of the future here be better asking the boss ha. I have just got of the phone from the northern Ireland mills lad that come's when the machine first come's and got me over to England on the course. But he's very rarely home he's been really helpful and he said he would/might be able to get me them certs when he's back in Ireland but theirs still a few I'll need to get. Gaz_1989 9,539
I don't think it's ever too late to do what you want to do or make drastic changes. It is a worry when you've got missus, kids and a house to support though. 18 months ago I left a steady 9-5 office job which was salaried and came with a company car to go and work on the motorways, no guaranteed hours, no guaranteed money, not knowing what it was gonna be like etc. My biggest worry was not being able to support my family if it went tits up. But it was the best thing I've ever done. So gambles can pay off ? All the best whatever you do.
dillydog 8,463
I hope not, I'm 47 and I've been asked to retrain . I've been involved in a bad smash in a truck, it's impossible to do my old job with the injuries I sustained so it's time to move on. 33 is nothing mate, your still a baby :-)
*The*Field*Marshall* 674
It's never too late this day and age, in fact I don't think there's ever been a better time to 'return to learn' I met a woman back in the summer, late fifties I would say, she was wearing a 'student' badge, I asked what she was studying "social work" she replies, I asked what background she was coming from, not much! She said went on to say she'd only ever kept the books for her husband who ran a little taxi firm, he traded her in for a younger model and left her in her tod, kids grown up and gone . . So she didn'tt want hang around and is now on her last years of a degree. She choked when I said she was inspirational! It's not always that simple, as I am finding out personally, but if you want something enough, there's little that can stop you
Accip74 7,112
My sister in law is almost 50, she had to leave her job in the fashion industry due to a dispute a year or so ago & is now retraining as a junior school teacher...... Often it takes less time to get on & do something, than it takes thinking about it.....
