onion jonny 527 Posted October 7, 2015 Report Share Posted October 7, 2015 it doesnt just become yours no matter how long you look after it, it cant be claimed unless there is no title on it plus you have to make a proper search to trace anyone who may have a claim on the land and that means doing a a lot of costly work to look for owners their children their sisters their brothers and every other tom dick and harry, getting a solicitor to do the search taking out adverts in papers ect. the reason i know is my i own some land that people started to clear and claim in the end it cost them a lot of time and money to be told to GET OFF MY LAND. 3 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

That could possibly be true today ,but here's a little story . Growing up my dad was best friends with race horse owner and multi millionaire Trevor Hemings daughter . When I was a kid my dad was gifted the use of 70acres of land for nothing by Mr Hemings at the other side of this land Mr Hemings owned a farm house and barns with about the same amount of land 70 - 100 acres . The farmer on this land was a friend of his who lost all he had he was also gifted this farm to use .now apparently after twelve years he claimed this farm and got it I'm not sure if it's true but his family are still there today and when all this kicked off my dad was told he needed To pay rent. I'm not sure the ins and outs I'll check later with my dad as he knows what happened , my dad kept ten acre And I recall that story when I asked him why he didn't have all that land anymore . Anyway he tried the same, had a caravan and his family living on this bit of 'neglected' woodland, had a veg patch and just hunted (poached?) the local critters. I don't think he had a job and then D-Day came and he was evicted! Got really upset if I remember, felt like the plot was his by right. LOL. Is fencing a priority I'm going to turn a bit lf waste land into a yard I'm friendly with everyone who lives in the houses overlooking it and it's a fairly large space got a footpath running down the hedge line but it's never been used and very very overgrown Quote Link to post Share on other sites
