Dewclaw69 484
When this was all started by Giro, he put up a poll. From memory he asked Would anyone want to be part of a club to represent them ? The majority of replies said yes. then he asked about the CA, the exact question i can't remember but it was around membership and whether we would join. there were i think 3 possible options to reply 1 already a member 2 i would if i thought they were doing anything for us - THE MAJORITY OF REPLIES INDICATED THIS OPTION 3 i wouldnt give em a penny I emailed Tim Bonner and the replies were made public. He did say they represented lurcher work but he also admitted they could do more. So based on the fact that the majority of replies indicated folk would/do want a club to represent them and there does seem to be room to work with the CA, some action has been taken to progress this. Anything the CA can do is a bonus and much needed for the lurcher fraternity. Any potential swelling of the CA numbers will benefit and further strengthen the CA's position NOT DIFFICULT TO SEE A MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL WORKING RELATIONSHIP HERE IS IT Whatever goes forward from here is for the benefit of anyone who works lurchers. All have been invited to input from the beginning and this is still the case. There is no club as yet, there is no club committee. The meeting held in the midlands was attended by people who offered their time and felt it was right to try to DO SOMETHING. As stated previously, people who do not feel what is being done is the right way forward are free to not get involved. But in my opinion, It's just like not voting in an election then complaining about what's been done by the government in power. And as for knocking folk who are trying, i'm staggered. 3 Quote Link to post

Dewclaw69 484
JD, the way I see it is that we DO need to publicise what we do, but in a better light, and we do need to publicly distance ourselves from the idiots who post on Facebook being inhumane and illegal. It is only by educating the public that we will show that not all those who work lurchers are in the 'bad brigade'. We also need to try and educate the idiots: a long shot and a hard thing to do I am well aware, but all these things take a long time, a very long time. If we do nothing we shall never clean up our image. I disagree with you inasmuch that we already have the CA to do all this for us: it is not their job, no more than it is their job to police and implement rules/codes for any other of the field sports groups or associations. Skycat, IMO the public do not have anything to do with the Ban, nor will their opinion have anything to do with any further legislation. The only people that matter are the MP's. We could have been giving 10 million a week to good causes in the year befor the ban but the ban was still going to go through, this was down to MP's. Members of the public aren't interested. They're busy trying to get on with their lives. Realistically, a lurcher 'club' is going to have so few members it is not going to be able to do anything at all toward public opinion. The only way forward is unity and working with the MP's. But thats JMHO. All the best to those involved.... Hi. messaged you Quote Link to post
paulus 26
leeview last years discussions were exactly that, last years discussions, this year its something new. you seem to be obsessed with getting your own views across by trying to pick at everything that has been said or done in the past, if your really that interested, put you hat on the table and volunteer for the committee Quote Link to post

bonehead 92
Hope this group can lobby the goverment to have a rethink about the law although I will never post pictures of my dogs or loaction due to some of the the anti hunting feeling and iam sure there are few anti types trolling on here hoping to find folk acting against the ban and report it to there overlords hopefully they will read this and see the support and the momentum that this thread is collecting and can report back that we the repressed are now ready to fight back 1 Quote Link to post

If we are "affiliated" to the Countryside Alliance, that is their speciality. The more members the group has, the stronger our right to be heard will be. We need to be in it to win it. 3 Quote Link to post
