desertbred 5,490
As a potential member of the National Lurcher Club, (even though I only run pures) As far as Ihave been able to deduce. The matter to raise theprofile of working lurchers was raised by Giro a member on here this then led tp Dewclaw69 taking up the cause and he then contacted Country Alliance and Tim Bonner explaining the concerns of lurcher lads and the feeling that there was in general a lack of recognition and support within C/A for working lurchers Tim Bonner then offered a meeting with C/A down in London. A few like minded lads then began to communicate and the idea of a new group was muted . it is pinned in a locked post on here for all to view. People were asked to volunteer or nominate people for the steering group..Alan Tyer raised the point about the ALC he had his say and eventually offered to put his experience at the disposal of the new group if this was in fact the decision to form a new group. Eventually the Steering Committee was formed comprising 5 members these 5 names were also posted.and are in the pinned post. Their initial brief was to draft an Agenda and a brief Code f Conduct to be discussed and amended by members as and when a national meeting was arranged. A meeting of this steering group wa arranged and Willenhall was nominated as almost central meeting point. One member withdrew from the steering group prior to the meeting for personal reasons. Another member is Resident over in Spain so could not travel but was prepared to use video conference if needed. It was suggested this meeting should be an open meeting but finally the steering group felt as nothing had been prepared an Agenda and direction should be drafted first. The meeting was thus attended by 4 members nothing was secretive as some one has suggested, Subsequently The Chairman of the Group has also withdrawn for personal reasons leaving 3 steering group members. Hence today Sandymere has posted the latest update. Lads have been asked to contact Sandymere and Dewclaw 69 in regards to Area Reps these can be nominated or volunteer, The work that has been undertaken at present is Thanks to this small steering group giving up a great deal of time and personal expense to get this of the ground. The 4 who travelled to the initial meeting in Willenhall travelled over a thousand combined miles round trip speaks volumes of their commitment. Lads young and old especially the young they are the future step up to the plate. The doors are wide open for those willing to be part of the new group. The Hunting Ban saw a demise in the ALC as Alan Tyer himself will admit and the time and need is for new direction and new blood and support not sniping and knife sharpening. Do it for the future not what was pre ban different times and different new lines of thought are needed. Edited October 5, 2015 by desertbred 5 Quote Link to post

trenchfoot 4,243
The three are Sandymere, Mushroom and myself, with Declaw69 as a notary. We have a date to meet with Tim Bonner next week. As it stands, now that the "chairman" has had to stand down, it may well mean that I will attend this meeting on my own. However, as per the original post on this thread any one who feels that they have something to add to the steering group, and the time and experience to drive things forward then feel free to stand up and say so. 3 Quote Link to post

trenchfoot 4,243
IMO everyone should get behind Alan Tyres and the ALC He's been seen and is known to Tim Bonner Alan has stuck with it from the beginning and should be supported IMO Look this new group was 5 now it's 3 And it's a month old Alan has Longevity ' IMO everyone should get behind this guy. Yes Area representatives is the way with Alan steering the ship IMO . 95% of lurcherfolk (not coursing folk) had never heard of, or forgotten about the ALC before this thread started. The ALC is/was stuck with the past history of essentially supporting the course clubs. As much as we all would like to return to the halcyon days of "pre-ban" and will do all we can to campaign for that ban to be lifted,Those days are long gone. In the current environment, a "working lurcher federation" needs to represent those who work within the current laws. 3 Quote Link to post

I still think C/A Could have, should have and should do a lot more for lurcher lads than is visible dont you ? Well, no. I disagree. And I do not think a 'spokesperson' for this club should be voicing those opinions anyway. Not if you want to be taken seriously by the overall fieldsports body. But thats my opinion.... I honestly think that whoever gets involved should be level headed and not prone to throwing their toys out of the pram and calling people c###s just because they don't like what they hear. 1 Quote Link to post
