jigsaw 11,865
I was speaking to a bloke 2 weeks ago, told me very matter of fact he has 42 hares caught and sold to the coursing slubs at 100 euro a hare, and i know the blokes not lying,he does it every year, travels anywhere to pick up even 1 or 2 at a time,i asked him to get me a day out for a run with the dog and understandably not a chance. Its not surprising we cant get them in any decent numbers anymore

He's made 4200 euro from netting hares and the season only 2 weeks old. By the end of the year he'll be driving a '16 Subaru. He's netting them in ones and twos ? So the land he's netting them on has dozens. You think he'd let you run one or two with all the hares he knows about. Is it one club or several clubs (take into consideration that the clubs meetings take place over months and are in different counties) that forked out 4200 euro ? If it's one club then they are already out of pocket and that with only just over half the hares they'll need to run a meet. So by the time they run their meet they'll be bankrupt. Coursing is not about money or profit. This was proven during the recession when coursing was as popular (if not more so) as ever. Coursing is about passion. YES, I agree some need to get their acts together (do lurcher men ? Genuine question.) but getting enough hares together for a meet takes volunteers and a lot of hard work for one or two days a year. I'm talking about park coursing which is something I'll take or leave but I'm a big open coursing fan and know that there's good and bad on both sides of the debate. Tell your mate I think he's full of it. LOL.

neil cooney 10,416
It's a pity that a thread made it's way here on to the Hunting Life where the info was taken from an anti web site. Sort of does them a favour.

Tell your mate I think he's full of it. LOL. neil i know he is open to lots of different clubs,he is requested by officials for hares from all over,I know this is true as last year on a morning we met up in a place i was running and he was coming off of,I saw he had boxes with hares in them.he goes out a few nights a week, and he told me hes been catching and passing on to folk since August.I personally havent seen them but i would be inclined to believe him as I know 2 men from much further away from his home place put in orders for hares and their request was sorted.I found this out when hunting rabbits on their land.So wether or which he is taking hares from areas i frequent as Ive been told by landowners of his efforts.Anyway them coursing clubs are mostly run by a shower of c**ts,as Ive met quiet a few and they aint nice folk if you walk a ''b*****d hound'' as they like to call em.we're all tarred with the same brush, its ok for them to have many hares in coralls for their sport but if we run one we're the worlds worst.
