smasher 1,055
First coat on new plaster should be a thinned down Matt emulsion paint but not a vinyl Matt, follow usually by 2 coats of a finish of your choice, pva will form a skin on the surface rather than soak in and seal the new plaster
forest of dean redneck 11,542
Our landing hall stairs etc all heavy use areas,I used crown silk magnolia .if I have to do it every year so be it. It was under £40 for large tub, some walls I had to do 4 coats to cover the Matt mocha coloured paint.
mattyg 1,862
If you're gonna use dulux make sure it's dulux TRADE AND NOT THE NORMSL STUFF FROM B&Q. Go into your local dulux trade centre and ask for the PT MAX discount, never pay the shelf price. Johnsons also do a good range of durable Matt aswell. It'll need two coats of the good stuff though on top of a base coat of normal stuff. Cheers, Matt
Spookz 5
Never, ever, ever, ever, seal plaster with pva, the object of a mist coat is to bond with the plaster, not sit on it.
