Rez 4,961
Falcon menace 4-14x44 FFP. I was actually out punching paper this afternoon for sometime with my 97 and thought about this. All this HW80 talk has made me want one and I would put my menace on it. Superb scope. Optics bang on, reticle great, uber thin and half mil dot, first focal plane... Heavy. Nuff said. 1 Quote Link to post
jocky 198
thanks rez, was only asking as i have heard that some scopes are no good on springers. Quote Link to post
magnummike 39
Think that a more classic looking scope suits the and glass etched ret would be better on a springer like the . I would go for a nice hawke Panorama a 3-9 or 4-12x40AO to keep the scope low to the rifle , nice clear glass for the money and the half mil dot ret is great and is illuminated red or blue and not too heavy Atb Mike Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
You cannot get a better, classical/retro looking scope for an HW80 than a... SIMMONS WHITETAIL CLASSIC. 4.5-14X40mm AO SUPERNIGHTVIEW. They have a 30/30 "truplex" reticle and a brilliant low-light, wideview performance. This scope perfectly matches the rifle in looks and performance better than any other I've tried over the 18 years I've been shooting with this rifle.Sadly, these are no longer made by Simmons but, if you see one on secondhand markets in good condition, snap it up! There are examples in all conditions out there but, these are amazingly well built scopes.Expect to pay around 100 quid mark for really good condition ones, but, those of us who really know our scopes snap them up as soon as we see them. It's hard to adequately describe just how brilliant they are for an HW80. But let's say they are a scope/rifle match made in heaven! These scopes cost over £230 when new and I still use the very same one I bought for my HW80 FAC both from brand new.. After 18 years of use, thousands of pellets shot at 21 ft/lbs and a fair old bit of recoil, there's not a thing wrong or strained with it. These scopes had graphite grey coatings and are as tough as boots that'l withstand the recoil all day long and not lose zero, no matter how hard your shooting day/night runs..Probably the very best scope ever made for a Wiehrauch spring rifle I've ever known, after 50 years (-this year!) of air rifle shooting and hunting.Pianoman Quote Link to post

mark williams 7,563
Hi Jocky, Mate i`m having some real results with the MTC Mamba Lite 3-12x44 SCB on medium mounts (sports match) with the T Rex HC .177 . Type " TX 200 HC .177 at work" in the top right search engine and take a look at some recent results,if you like. Hawke scopes don`t like recoil and i hear they break if not on a pcp. Good luck with your choice Edited October 6, 2015 by mark williams Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
Hi Mike.TWO quality modern scopes of my choice would be NIKON PROSTAFF. Really top notch quality and reasonable money for the level of quality on offer. I've been using my Nikon Fieldmaster 6-18x40mm scope on my HW77 .22. Blisteringly accurate zero and beautiful sightpicture.I really rate these scopes for any HW spring rifle. You cannot get a better, classical/retro looking scope for an HW80 than a... Pianoman Hello Simon Is there a new scope that comes a close second ? regards Mike. Cheers Simon I am moving my pro staff 7 from my 95 to my 77 tonight and putting my hawk hd sport on the 95 while I get my next scope sent for. I had short listed an old stock pro staff 3-9x40, or for a bit more money a pro staff 7 2.5-10x42. the other one was a old stock pro sport 3-9x50 which is £30 cheaper than the pro staff7 42mm scope. There are so many Nikon,s to choose from. There is one that says it is a rimfire scope and another called a rifle scope ? Think they will all be good so I was not far away with my choice. Regards Mike. 1 Quote Link to post
