The Lad Starting Smoking

You can't stop kids from doing sod all at the end of the day you can but advise. They make there own mistakes or they don't you just got to go with the flow

I disagree with this. As a parent you are there to nurture, to guide, to advise, to correct and to provide an example to your children. This isn't a random "lets see what happens with them" situation. they're your children and should be brought up with basic values of wrong from right.

I can tell you now 100% my son won't be smoking a cigarette in front of me (he's also 13), he knows the score and although our friendship is second to none he knows I'm his father not one of his mates.

To be honest if he's smoking in front of you at 13 is be far more worried about the lack of respect my son had for me. I would question if my son was willing to have such disrespect what next?   It'

Don't punish him at all.   Sit him down and explain how smoking will shorten all your lives and then come up with a plan to all stop.   If you want I could email him and describe my experiences o

I laugh when people say they can't stop smoking,my answer to is ya full of shit.i stopped a year and a half ago after smoking for 35yrs and I always said I couldn't cos my temper would go through the roof.the wife stopped 6mths before me and we both went on them e cig pens,I had the 0.0 so there was no nicotine at all and after 6days it went into the cupboard where it still is now and never to come out again.dont get me wrong it's hard at first as you want that kick to the back of your throwt but that's it.as long as you can over come that mate you've cracked it don't get me wrong I still get the thing for a split second but that's it mate.beleave me if I can stop anybody can mate atb.

Tbh my eldest is 13 next month and if I find out she's smoking I'm taking her to a cancer ward to work with the people there!

Show them the real face of it ;)

 End of life hospices are always looking for volunteers. Give them a few afternoons chatting with folk that are weeks away from dying due to smoking should open their eyes a bit.
