If it had to be a first x, then I'd use summat like a lab, or a deerhound, summat real sensible and biddable. But none of the, would touch a coursing dog at any job given

yes I know but question was just out of interested as first cross saluki would be heavy saturated with saluki what dog breed would you use as the lurcher had to start somewhere before adding 5 different dogs in mix was just out of interested but I won't post again as too many ready to tear holes in topics bye lads enjoy site

Line bred coursing dogs got everything in them going back far enough, even if saluki saturated. I thought it was a good question myself.

the proven crosses have all had terrier in the mix bedlington or irish terrier there must be a reason for it

i wasn't tearing holes just giving my opinion if i didn't want it to be saturated with saluki then i wouldnt start with one to be honest

Working saluki to working saluki ,in the right hands do anything you want more. Biggest problem is mediocre saluki lines being punted around
