I once dropped a pressure cooker on someone in a motorcycle crash helmet who was breaking into a motorcycle accessory store in Nottingham. Bust the helmet! It was on my windowledge cooling down and when I heard them breaking the door down at 2am I accidentally knocked it off onto the helmeted hoodlum below! Think he was traced by the custom paint job it had on it!

 

The other numbskull who did a smash and grab on the shop did it in his own car without changing the plates. He did not get a Tower on the head as he did not have a helmet on!

This extends to your yard/garden AFAIK - I vaguely remember a case where someone did some damage to a c**t that was robbing a shed on their premises. You don't need to drag them into the bedroom anymore.

Defending yourself and your property is fine,if you word everything properly you'll often get away with a lot imo.

 

But setting traps is a different ball game,it sets a dangerous precedent,if one person gets away with it the next will push it furtheruntil we all have spike pits and landmines in our gardens.

 

but when it all went wrong and an innocent gets hurt the media particularly would be looking for someone to blame,the police and certainly the judge doesnt want to be the one who goes on record as setting the precedent of letting others get away with man traps imo

There used to be an old chicken fancier down in Carlow, one of the best characters ever.

Anyways he was always paranoid about his chickens being stolen so he dug a trench at the back of his yard. Lined it with coils of barbed wire and filled it with pig slurry.

It worked too.

One night two lads came to take his chickens and ended up in the slurry. Jimmy went down and sat watching them all night.

Every time they put their arms out to pull themselves up Jimmy whacked their arms with an iron bar.

He let them go in the morning, they were wrecked.

Another time a squad car turned in Jimmy's yard and thinking they were chicken thieves he took a shot at it. He did some porridge for that one.

If you had a guard dog which injured an intruder, would you be liable to prosecution?

Genuine question. Years ago I had a german shepherd which chewed an intruder late at night. How I would have stood if the b*****d had made a complaint?

We had a night time visit once years ago,when we called and reported it ,the old copper who came out was really nice as they go,he told me to take my warning signs down as it was an admission of owning a dangerous dog, and if anyone got bit ,the dog was a family pet ,and never had done that before etc , he said put carpet gripper along the fence on my side just below the top to catch their finger tips, if anyone asked it was stop cats,lol

like i say people that come late at night have no excuse being there,and as for kids coming in to my garden what kids are going to be out at 11 0 clock at night when the traps are set before i leave the premises,if im not going out nothing is set as theres cctv every where and at every point covering the premises
