shropshire mole 190
Agree Ficam W still works wonders for most insect pests Quote Link to post
Dirksdonuts 79
Ficam W with a growth regulator such as Nylar mixed in Quote Link to post
BRY 79
I cant ever get my head around using a Growth regulator along side an Insecticide that KILLS the target insect ? If it kills the insect what's the point of a growth inhibitor, because the likes of Ficam W kills the Fleas and any that come in contact with it. I know a growth regulator stops the insect from Maturity, but it wouldn't reach Maturity if it comes in contact with an AI that KILLS ?????? Anyone explain this ? Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
Thanks , was thinking of Ficam W , I must admit , but have got so used to just using cimetrol . Basically i'm after effectiveness against the full life cycle , safe to use for me and the customer , non staining , cost not really a factor within reason,( don't tell the reps). Looks like Good old Ficam .... Quote Link to post
Dirksdonuts 79
Hi Bry What about the eggs does Cimetrol kill eggs.......No is the answer so after 14 days when they hatch the process starts all over again. It is residual for up to 3-6 months and disturbs the breeding cycle preventing them from producing over and over again. Flea eggs and flea larvae that are exposed to an IGR will never develop into the adult jumping, biting and (most important!) reproducing fleas. Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
Nylar is going as well if I'm not mistaken Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,844
Iv never seen much of a difference in call backs using an igr. Quote Link to post
nod 285
The chemical is maybe residual for 3-6 months in a lab but in a home I can't see it lasting that long with the traffic of people walking over it all the time 2 Quote Link to post
Dirksdonuts 79
Yes I am sure that once its been hoovered a few times then its gone And yes the original Nylar is off the market but it will be replaced I am told but when is another thing Quote Link to post
Rowan 308
Cimetrol is going to be replaced also , but for now,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ficam W . I think so ..Thanks . Quote Link to post
ratattack 111
K othrin is non staining, no odour etc much better to spray than ficam as no visible residue is left. Quote Link to post

Hi Dirk I have been using FW for the past 20 odd years , I rember a few years ago it didn't perform as it should have ( bad batch or something ) I always advise no hovering for at least 14 days , leaving plenty of time for the life cycle of any eggs to start . But never had any probs , if using an igr and it gets hovered too soon there's no igr or AI for the hatching eggs /larvae ? Voids and call centres / public places are a different kettle of fish . moxy 617
What about mites? Are they listed on the label of ficam? Quote Link to post
