Got a litter due myself early next week between my bitch and a friends dog.

Well,..we are all different,...and nowadays,...I only hunt the coney,...and lurchers that exhibit the amazing,.terrier-like prey drive,.. of a good working whippet,.really do fit the bill....IF I need

Currently sat watching her have them, 3 dogs 2 bitches so far! It's going to be a long night..

:hmm:Well,..we are all different,...and nowadays,...I only hunt the coney,...and lurchers that exhibit the amazing,.terrier-like prey drive,.. of a good working whippet,.really do fit the bill....IF I needed to hunt other quarry,..I would change my choice of canine partner,.but, as things stand,..the whippet influence in a rabbiting dog,.... suits me just fine...

A united kingdom grew lol

Im glad you did not sink into the Welsh type of second rate jukel,English first, before the Irish stole and bred from English stolen stock, then Scottish ancestory, the only mutts that struggle on Blue hares, then we get to the Deerhoundys?.

Lloydeyif honesty ever again shone its head in whats required from hunting,a whippet would not shine in our lamplight, they are 3rd rate at the best of times,if honesty ever caught a a piss poor gallop,Whippetys are the best type of mutt to advance the type of lurcher they befit.

I only hunt edible game as well, except ratting with the terriers.I think a whippet whippet x or grew would suit my needs to be honest .

I like hunting the edible stuff, love cooking/eating as well, can't beat some rabbit fajitas or a nice stew. Also like a bit of ratting and daytime mooching/bushing great seeing all the dogs working together.

I know some people love the whippet and there crosses for use working alongside ferrets. What are peoples opinions of them as lamping dogs?Just interested on hearing different views.

They are what they are,i want more from what i enter into the field. The type i want more from never as whippet in the mix.

Makes sense morton, each to there own.Suppose it's a lot to do with personal preference and what suits the terrain your hunting on.

I'd have patience and wouldn't be overbothered whats in the mix. Provided the parents are solid grafters on the quarry you want to hunt. North Wales has always had some cracking lurchers, from long lines of 'from pedigree unknown' grafters, or it did have... I'd like to think they are still there... Somewhere!
