gnipper 6,475
Any of you lads who feed before hand not find the dog realises what's happening and acts up till you go or if you don't end up going out? I prefer to feed at bed time to settle them down for the night but might give a few scraps at tea time. Quote Link to post

possumtrapper 46
You guys mentioned feeding your dog 3-4 hours before heading out for a mornings ferretting, that would mean getting out of bed at 3, 4am in the morning to feed the dog, bugger that. Best give it supper the night before, just my opinion. As for abit of the night time activities, I'd just give the dog its normal evening meal at around 4-5pm and maybe a recovery meal on the return home, depending how hard the night was, but to be honest, my dogs are not that keen on a feed straight after a hunt, prefer a kip then a feed.
