skycat 6,173
What would you suggest to a pup that won't eat anything but tinned food sky cat , I hate the mass produced rubbish but the pup I have here won't touch anything but ? My other 2 only eat raw and now and again they will get dry which is alpha feed Have you tried feeding a quality dry food such as Iams or Purina? The more expensive dry foods are meat based, which means that meat is the main ingredient. Alpha is, I believe, cereal based. You can mix a bit of tinned food in to soaked dry food, which will give it the flavour the pup is used to. Then gradually reduce the amount of tinned food. How old is the pup anyway? dodger 2,754
I remember we used to feed our pet mongrel dog on that butchers tripe tinned food or any other tinned food if they didn't have that in from the super market with a mixer biscuit when I was a kid n he used to go everywhere with us that dog on our little adventures n missions he was never in so must of done well on it.. My old man n his wife have always fed there collie on tinned food not sure which one mixed with pedigree mixer biscuit n that's always in good nic full of energy n a glossy coat but them collies can do well off most foods can't they.. Also remember as kids my mates parents used to get him vitalin for his lurcher the one that looks like rabbit food n also tinned meat from Kwick saves he used to soak the vitalin n mix it with the tinned food the dog loved it n did well on it to.. Stud dog 632
The problem you have is who ever started feeding the tinned food in first place Quote Link to post
neil cooney 10,416
JMHO but you could go in to a lads yard and looking at his dogs know what he's feeding them. IMO if someone thinks their dogs look just as good on tinned food as they do on raw then they should take a trip to Specsavers. 1 Quote Link to post
