The ALC has had its day. What can be learned from those who have been involved since it's inception is invaluable. The benefits of being allied to one of the national organisations are multitude.

Thrashing issues out on line will just get us nowhere. Sort out a working party. Thrash things out, and agree face to face. then take it to the CA, or whoever.

I've got time on my hands, and worked in sales and marketing for 20 odd years. If you need any help, count me in

This will be a long term campaign, tough and certainly not for the weak hearted or those who cannot commit to and stick to the proposals as regards time and enthusiasm. Every body ,who is involved in

The term lurcher work covers a wide spectrum of countryside and sporting activities. I personally dont think joe public has any great objections to lurcher work as most of them wouldnt know or unders

With the recent proposed Amendment going on hold & a few related posts and topics on here..   Its got me thinking and most likely a few others.   I've touched upon the subject with some like

So what your saying DB is that organised coursing was part of why the ban was bought in? and being part of a club that promotes it is pointless All I posted was it might be a good idea to try and portray lurcher owners in better way and try and lift the image a bit. Not once did I mention organised coursing. For me a club should want to promote all types of hunting with lurchers and not just Hare coursing as long as it's not organised as you seem to want to. I hope I haven't got the wrong end of the stick but that's how it comes across to me.

I had been reading the archived ALC web site and the articles that were offered in 2000 these related to doubled up NCC coursing and the unrecognised single handed coursing. I then read the poaching section which appeared to me to be a crucifiction notice for poaching lads, which incidentally the Hunting Act has forced lads into poaching if they want to follow their pass time,Selected clips of certain organised courses were used by Lacs to portray a barbaric interpretation of coursing they showed hares being slaughtered as they put it, they didnt show the numbers that made good their escape. The single handed was not a point based course it was down to kills and scores on the doors, this combined with gambling was tailor made for the antis to manipulate the public . What I want is all fields of dog work and all country sporting activities to be open to individuals or clubs on permission without bias in favour of one group or another if a farmer gives you permission that should be sufficient for individuals to hunt. The images.of large amounts of cash being wagered led to a public image that was hard to refute once the organised coursing was nailed by the Hunting Act they then could divert attention to the lurcher lads roaming the country side betting kings ransoms and destroying the country side you know the ruffians that dont work steal anything not screwed down I want to see any hunting with dogs permitted I refer to coursing as that is where my expertise and interest as an individual ls you are totally wrong to assume I dont have concern for other peoples country sport activities.I want to see equal and level rights for all participants.

The Association of lurcher clubs was formed with clubs up and down the country joining.

Where are all those clubs now?,it was never individual members, you were a member of an individual club that was part of the ALC

The ALC was only about coursing and organising the Forley cup.

Before that it was the Calendar cup, both single and doubled up running.

How can you be amember of a association of lurcher clubs if there's no clubs in it?

A T(Courser)might still be chairman but chairman over who if theres no clubs left?

No disrespect to AT he still gets to high profile meetings but just who is he representing if there's no clubs in the ALC

If we are not going to be able to meet then we need to vote on who needs to see Bonner, socks, desertbred and skycat get my vote, first and foremost we want lurcherwork promoted in a positive light.

Socks and skycat get my vote too plus one other. Db has said he doesn't want to front this up

getting back to basics. We all want the same. Working lurchers promoted in a positive light and the rest.

there is enough interest for this to be pursued.

1. There's an open invite from the CA to meet Tim Bonner. I'm waiting on available dates from his secretary.

2. 3 folk to visit Bonner and find out what they are doing for lurchers ( we know its not a lot by his own admission) and what they are prepared to do. skycat , socks and someone else they feel comfortable going with ? ( not me for sure)

3. We have a big customer base out here thats untapped by the CA. ( money talks)

4. If we get talking with the CA then we can decide whether its worth pursuing a new club / association and if so how we would go about it.( independently, ALC, or what)

5. If the CA have nothing to offer then decide from there ( probably NFA) and back into the shadows.

Hows that sound for a plan of action ?

all we've done so far is manage to complicate things and p*ss each other off. thats no good to anyone

There is no point in meeting with Tim Bonner until or unless we can offer a comprehensive and well thought out plan of action to improve the status of the working lurcher; a plan that can be highly visible and approved by the CA. To do that we need to put in place a strong working group who will have the stamina and interest to see things through and be available and willing to work ridiculously hard long term.
