India is exactly the same, always used to see people recycling, even the thali plates made from pressed coconut leaves were eaten by the cows that wander the street, alang in gujarat is the ship-breaking

I fully agree Max, but the guy who was tipping probably would have still tipped. We need more tips for sure.   With all these people out of work and claiming i think they should be employed at a re

The most inexplicable fly tipping I encountered in England was the dumping of general waste which costs you fcuk all to dump at the local tip! At least with commercial waste you can see the reasoning

We take ours sometime when we have A lot in the van but the council workers are such jobsworths who try to stop you but my dad just tells them straight he's placing it in the skips they say bring it back in your car every time and expect you to do ten trips back and forth like people have the time to do it, some familes only have vans and the recycle centre make it hard to go and use there faculties so that's why you get so many fly tippers, we also burn a lot of stuff if we get to much but plastics and things like that don't burn so have to go to the recycle

If there was a real fine then it would half or a real threat of prison but no hardly nothing gets done just like dogs crapping on a footy pitch

I could be wrong, but I think the fines go up to £20,000, but catching them is the hard part.......I've never witnessed it, have you?

Fly tipping is the bain of our lives in this village. It's an almost daily occurence in the lanes that surround us. Not a week goes by without me in the ditches pulling out the shite.

Everything from house clearances to crops of green. The council will, if forced, take only whats on the tarmac, so the ditches and verges get left by them, so my job is to get everything on the road so its not left.

What causes the problem... The tip is less than a mile away but it is so strict in its policys on tipping there, most either aint got a permit or would not pay the charges and so we get the aftermath!

Back in the day, the same people would have waited till after dark and sneeked back to dump outside the tip gates. With the workers clearing before opening the following day (I know this because my old man worked there). These days them gates are cctv'd up to the max, with huge p.i.r. lighting too, you'd think it was Fort Knox in there. So they do the only thing open to em and dump it down our dark, quiet lovely lanes... Sickener!

Most of them fellas at the tip are a lot less strict with a few quid in the tea kitty

how about if the council/authority's ,when rooting through a pile of rubbish in a gateway or where ever ,if they find any old letters, addresses where rubbish originated from ,then could fine that person .Stop people paying someone £50 to dump a load illegally, and get a proper skip ,a waste transfer number ?

If companys have to follow those rules ,as in only a licensed person can remove rubbish ,and get receipt to prove it ,cant be that hard for everyone else to follow?
