Fireman just a question, the dimensions were taken from the breeding cages sold on eBay, that a lot of lads have on here use for there birds. The ones that you said "cracking set up that" to mule 1943

Only instead of 2 birds in each there will be 1 so the kids can get used of looking after them and try and tame them, where on my post does it say that they will spend all their life in this cage you called a cell

I'm trying to encourage my grand kids into this hobby instead of sitting in front of the TV or a computer and was hoping for a bit of help from people on here FFS

Don't know what cages your on about mate, but they usually come as double or trebles, many then you can divide or make it one big cage, is yours taken from a single cage measurements? Birds will live in them, but they would thrive in summat bigger. Best of luck to the kids with there new birds when they get em

Thanks for your positive advise

First of mate sorry if i come across a tad sharp and i will be polite and say to folks a good set up when i see one and i have seen with my own eyes mules set up and it is suitable and his double breeders afford more space than mule cages and he also has aviaries which provide all a bird could wish for in captivity.I took it as they would live in the cages 24/7 as you have not said otherwise and like i say you'd call a man a cnut for keeping a dog penned up all the time and birds just because their small it don't mean they can cope in small cages, your grandkids would do so much better watching the birds acting a whole lot more natural in a flight or aviary and if you get one together i will give them free of charge a few birds(coloured and normal greenfinches and anything else i can find for them  ) to get them going and with a good chance of them breeding next year so the kids can watch the whole process from courtship to adulthood in a bird.. :victory:

The above boxes were part of a cunning plan, I have wanted an aviary for some time but having taken over the garden with my kennels, chicken pens and pond it would not have gone down well with her in doors

I am always moaning about the kids not getting out or having hobbies and when I have taken them to my pals they have shown an interest in his song birds, hence the colourful pretty boxes for the grand kids

Once they have shown interest I was going to build an aviary and tell the misses it's for the gran kids new hobby

Sorry about the misunderstanding and thank you for your kind offer, if everything goes to plan I will post a picture of the gran kids new aviary once completed

No worries mate and let her know they won't cost anything(allways a bonus that one  ) just travel and we've got enough members from all over on here so something can be sorted getting them to you i'm sure,

Dotty if i ever won the lottery i'd build a aviary with a stream and a pond and i'd try to breed Kingfishers :D ,now that would be a sight watching them going about their ways  ..

These are 19x15x12 I used the eBay ones as a guide, you live and learn, I will post a picture of my flight once completed,

It is like any hobby you start with best intentions and get into it, hence the post

I will take on board the comments and no doubt there will be more issues once I build my flight but that's the hunting life for you
