Allan P 1,150
After reading some of the posts in other recall thread, how many people can call their dog off something if it's in mid chase, I for one can't. No matter if I had a fillet steak as a reward. No issue at park or somewhere with no game. No issue lamping returns if miss run and retrieves pretty well.. I except this as normal daytime hunting, am I wrong? The dog has always returned so far if he loses his prey or catches it. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
Sounds about right to me. I haven't got a cat in hells chance of calling mine off the chase. They only just come back if they aren't chasing something. Hahaha. 1 Quote Link to post

Hunting loon 100
Well know fact lurchers or Hun dogs tunnel vision for the thing there chasing no chance any body calling there dog off a chase as the excitement in dog to great how many times are dog on a chase and you find they have cut there feet or hurt them self but you are unware untill chase over as dog show no signs of injury or pulls up through out chase just shows dogs determination to catch it quary 1 Quote Link to post
Allan P 1,150
The thing is I have trained my dog not to touch sheep and cats etc so it really should be possible but I just haven't tried its part of hunting for me. Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
If mine are close at hand I can call them off a hot scent if I spot the rising excitement quickly enough. Once they've spotted game and started off there's no chance. In some places I keep them close so I can make a quick decision on whether it's a good idea or not. The thing is in some places it's not convenient to have them on a lead as you have to pick your footing and sometimes need your hands too so it's good to have a bit of control.
