Popular Post Gaz_1989 9,539
Should be in the ferreting section really but it's more about my 7 month old lurcher than the ferreting. Only nipped out for an hour to try and bolt a couple for the pup. I've said before she is a handful. Hard work is an understatement but she is really good at ferreting. Stays pretty close and doesn't mess with the nets. She seems to know what's going on. Pretty switched on for her age. My daughter loves it and is really hands on. She grabs the ferrets, lays nets, uses the locator. Can't fault her. Pup marks really well... Waiting for a bolt... Young ferreter... Get over... Go on pup... Smiles all round... Only the one today but we weren't playing the numbers game. Just getting the pup a bit of experience in the field. 24 Quote Link to post

Gaz_1989 9,539
Thanks for the comments folks. Still gonna take my time with the pup. Not rushing her. It's not like I'm stuck for something to run. Off out on an invite later with the brindle bitch so hopefully get a few in the bag, despite full moon it's forecast a bit of cloud and rain up there. 1 Quote Link to post

morton 5,368
The very first lurcher i ever owned,i went to buy a Border/Lakeland pup and ended up with a Deerhoundy/Collie Cur combo, cost me £17,he wanted £25.!981 and all these years later i still vividly remember its first bunny,he was 7 months old.Scratting about in an abondoned Gas works,a bunny jumped up and swiftly thrashed through the emerging saplings, followed closely by the young mutt, the bunny made its way through a broken down gate and wire closely followed by the pup,i then lost sight of the chase and as is often the case at these times never expected anything else out of the scenario,to my utter amazement the pup came trudging back with bunny in jaw,i don,t know who seemed happier me or the mutt.To this day its possibly still the most memorable and rewarding experience ive ever encountered, there have been so more since, with a multitude of jukels, yet that 1 day stands out for me more than most,i can still envisage and experience every single second of that 20 second experience with the same warmth and comfort that set me as a lurcherman, that 20 seconds earlier may have made me stick to the terrier route i was set on. 6 Quote Link to post
