Thanks Phil.

You mean you don't think I will look back and say "I wish I had travelled further and caught more"? Haha. Of course I won't.

Stick some of the old pics up Phil. They are great to look back on.

Myxi hasn't hit here yet. It won't be long I'm sure.

You might be right Jim. I don't really class myself as a ferreter. I'm a lurcher man. The ferrets are only here to provide a little daytime sport for the dogs. I've only ever been ferreting twice to get big numbers and not took the dogs. The rest of the time it's just to bolt the odd one for the dogs.

If last day in august is too early for that then so be it, shoot me down now, I'm a summer hunter. Lol

If just seems silly lads arguing over a few weeks.

Take 3 at the end of august and you're a divi but go at the end of September and take as many as you like.

It's got to be each to their own Jim. If we are nipping out for an hour then the odd fly isn't gonna bother us and you're hardly gonna work up a sweat.

You lads do 8-10 hour shifts plus traveling. It's a bit different.

Same with the lads who say dogs need resting in the summer. My dogs will never do enough through the winter to need a rest through the summer.

People forget we aren't all the same.

I crack on regardless of what people think, as I said in another thread a while back if I waited or the cover to die back Id start in December and if I stopped the second rabbits started breeding Id be done in January so imo theres no point waiting for perfect conditions so I crack on.

I don't take big numbers really, just do enough to keep the landowners happy.

Just to clarify, the ferrets are experience in their jobs and no baby rabbits/nests dug to, In fact no digging at all. Also, no ticks or fleas found. After 20+ years at the ferreting game I think I'm well qualified to make a decision about when and where I choose to ferret.

Thanks to all the supportive comments.

As an aside, we had nests in December here.
