mooster 1
Well, in July I put up a post about my jills.I keep a 4 year old rescue jill and have kept one jill from her last litter. They were working very well together...until. In July I had the youngster spayed as I have no garden or space for a hob. On return from the vets the young jill was attacked constantly by her mother who had previously been her closest companion(apart from me)! It became so fierce and one sided that I feared I would find the young jill dead if I left them together so I had to carry out emergency alterations to their sleeping/feeding and exercise arrangements...became a logistical nightmare as this was totally unexpected and involved a lot of hard work to keep them apart without restricting their space. Each day I tried them running and feeding together but always ended with mother attacking her daughter to the point where I had to intervene. If this ever happens to you ...NEVER give up. I gradually moved their feeding areas and bedding closer and closer seperated by chicken wire. Here we are in November and after loads of hard work and patience they are tolerating eachother actually sleeping in the same box.....(I must admit I nearly lost patience with the mother a few times and was tempted to play God)! Next week will be working them together again, I cant believe it! This will make every expedition even more rewarding as I feel even more part of the team because of all the effort I have had to put in. Anyway,as I said never give up!! Quote Link to post
jultaylor1972 2
Thats fantastic news! I had a similar issue and the jill that was constantly attacking the kit is now her best friend! Like you say - Never give up! It takes a lot of time and effort but its well worth it in the end!! Well done to you Quote Link to post
