SportingShooter 0
I just enjoy reloading, as Charlie was saying, it's therapeutic when you're in that rhythm and takes the frustration of not being able to be out shooting when the weather is it's horrific Welsh self. You may be able to pick up some second hand decent great to keep the costs down. As long as it's in working order, I've never met anyone that's said they've worn out a reloading press. They're pretty indestructible. Quote Link to post
andyf 144
Back to the 'Soft Point' thing. I have a 22.250 for Foxing and use Sierra 55gr hollow points, as they are the most accurate in my rifle, and that works extremely well. However the Foxes around here don't co-operate too well and I am usually carrying one of my stalking rifles, (.270 Win or 7x57) when we bump into each other. So therefore I shoot most of my foxy friends with those, either (Home loads) 150gr soft points in the .270 or 168gr soft points in the 7x57, the big calibre's with soft points certainly have big knockdown power, and I have yet to lose a Deer, but on Fox not so good, I always used body heart lung shots, and 90% just drop like a stone, but I have had runners, plus others that when walked up on they are either still alive or have crawled many yards from the shot before death. The closer they are at the shot the worse this is, Fox simply lack the substance of a bigger animal and the bullet passes straight through. My answer developed because I don't like to inflict unnecessary suffering, is to take an 'along the body shot' in the chest and straight through the length of the body, from either end! Or if that's not on just leave them for another time. The .243 is lighter and faster, not a million miles from the 22.250 so I reckon would be better on Fox, but I've never owned one so couldn't say.
